Barclays basic x2?

Yes indeed I had two basic accounts with Barclays for seven or eight months along side a Golden ISA. No problems.
But when I applied (successfully) for a Full Current Account, about a fortnight after I received the debit card and chequebook for it (and transferred the Payroll details to it, too) I received a letter from Barclays.
Stating I no longer meet their criteria, and two weeks from the date of the letter they forceably closed all four accounts with no explanation other than "criteria". Never incurred a penny in charges, never went a penny overdrawn, and always put a nice turnover through the accounts each month.
The letter also stated that the bank are not prepared to offer any facilities in the future (don't come back).
Weirdly they let me keep my Barclaycard. Insane.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Wow, did you not find out why they did it? Sometimes they close accounts if they're being used for business purposes, or they think they are.
Barclays and Barclaycard are essentially separate companies so one doesn't usually effect the other.0 -

Nop never found out, wrote a couple of letters but got "It was because you no longer met our criteria, full and final response" garb from them.

Hi izools, do you think they may have had adverse data sent to them from Experian? Because the bankruptcy is on Experian, but not your Equifax files?
My OH applied to Barclay's for a current account and it was declined due to a default (settled) from the end of 2003:o
However, once the default dropped off, he re-applied and got a full current account. He has had a Smile Bank account for many years, but he's not keen on their online banking. Much prefers Barclay's.0
