considering i'm finding it hard to open an account with barclays in branch, i'm shocked they allow you to have two basic accounts with debit cards for both
I've definitely seen customers with more than one basic account, some have a spending account and a bills account. What problems are you encountering?0 -

barclays wouldn't open a Cash card account for me in branch and they no longer send out the applications out by post, and said branch point blank to my face didn't want to open the account for me.
i have applied for the natwest current account plus (looks like i wont get accepted because of their AVU or something)
i have no bank account, started my job today and boss by end of the week wants my bank details, im royally f*ckedShe LEFT me, she LIED, and she made me foot the BILL ! :mad:0 -

They are wrong. Barclays branches can open Cash Card Accounts in branch. Try another branch. I opened mine in branch.0 -

That's not good at all. Cash Card applications should really be completed by filling in a form in branch and then sending off to a processing team, but as the OP has stated, they can be opened by a PB in branch if needed. I don't think they get any incentive for opening them though. Is there another branch you can go to in your area?0 -
Barclays changed their process a few months ago and these accounts can now only be opended in branch. Staff seem to do everything they can to refuse to allow you to open the account and in my case opened a cash ISA against my will and without my signing any forms for one. Obviously a nice earner f0r the personal bankers.0

I wasn't allowed a natwest account due to only having a provisional license, so i went across the road to Barclays and i walked out 1hr or so later with 3 account and my account numbers to sort my wages out, they lady i dealt with was really lovely. I would ask to speak to the branch manager or phone their customer line, i'm sure i was told somewhere that if you have the correct id, then they are legally required to open an account for you, they're not allowed to refuse on the basis of commission. I think you must have a bad branch so go over their heads.0

Agreed - Barclays were brilliant for me... Opened my basic bank account - alongside my regular current account, with no probs at all.0 -
They've always been allowed to open them in branch, but it wasn't the main way of opening them.0

They refused to open my account in branch originally. sent the form off to their head office, who sent it back as the branch staff hadn't authenticated the ID photocopies properly. After sending the forms back to head office, the head office promptly returned the forms to the branch telling them to open the account. Farcical. Took 7 weeks or so.0
