Barclays basic x2?

I opened one without any issues a month or so ago. Originally i was planning on going monthly pay but i'm now staying on weekly pay so to make things easier for me when paying monthly bills, i'm thinking about opening another account just for bills and leaving my current step (which has a debit card) for my weekly spendings. Just wondering if anyone has 2 basic accounts? not sure if its allowed.
I have an isa and a saver thing but i can't use them for standing orders so can't use them.

You would need to ask them but would it not be better to open a savings account for the bills money and transfer it across when needed?0

Hi,
You can open more than one cash account at Barclay's. My husband and I went in yesterday afternoon and opened 2 joint cash accounts, e savings account and what seems to be the compulsory cash ISA's each.(They seem to think that we will use this) Little do they know we are going to start a DMP next month and are on a very tight budget.
One account with only the cash card which will have all our bill & DD going out and wages going in, the other account has the debit card so that we can use it as our day to day spending. The e savings is to put away the MOT, Tax etc. Everything can be done on-line or over the phone.
This is the start of a new beginning for us. We have finally taken control of our money and it feels good.
Hope this helps.

The ISAs aren't compulsory but put the MOT, tax money into that because it pays more interest than the esavings. Are you sure it wasn't the Essential savings account that was opened because as far as I am away you can only open esavings online via internet banking.0 -
Yeah they made me open a savings and isa too, i don't mind the isa but the savings is a bit pointless as i didn't get a card or anything so if i want to take money out i have to go online so it may as well go in the higher interest isa. Think i'll pop in there in the week and see about opening another account with just the cash card.0

The Essential Savings and Esavings Reward both come with a Cash Card if you want one You can apply for both online, or via Telephone Banking and Branch for the Essential.0 -

usually i would assume being basic you don't get more than one account, especially with the same banking institution.
considering i'm finding it hard to open an account with barclays in branch, i'm shocked they allow you to have two basic accounts with debit cards for bothShe LEFT me, she LIED, and she made me foot the BILL ! :mad:0
