Parents be grateful.....I had to keep my toddler in the trolley in supermarkets for years because he bit strangers bums!
Apparently they looked tasty. He is now in his early 20's and has grown out of it (in public at least;))Every day above ground is a good one0 -

i think anything(aslong as it doesnt literally hurt!) goes with kids under 5
why should they conform to 'society' so young? theyll be institutionalised soon enoughI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
I think its actually quite cute. My friends little boy is like that, he likes curly hair and mens stubble. His daddy is an accountant so always clean shaven but my husband your lucky if he shaves twice a week so he usually gets climbed on and stroked on a weekend. No idea if he does it to 'strangers' as such but certainly he does in our immediate circle.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000

I used to teach 3-7 year olds and trying to get them to concentrate when they're all sitting on the carpet and you're wearing tights is impossible! You soon get used to being swarmed around and having your legs stroked! And a silky tights/suede skirt combo is just asking for it!So, there are these boys,
They kinda stole my heart,
They call me Mummy

My baby's just over a year old and loves to stroke people's faces and hair. With strangers I just take her hand away and tell her that we don't touch strangers. If they engage with her and tell me/her it's ok I have no problem with it.
She did pull the wig off a lovely old lady on the tram. That was embarrassing.
And when we were in the pool a while ago a boy covered in weepy, scabby cold sores kept trying to kiss her, and his mother did nothing about it even when he followed us to a different area. Unwelcome - but kids do that sort of thing. It's not weird or embarrassing, it's just what they do. Parents can explain to their kids why it's inappropriate, but beyond the bounds of politeness there's no harm done.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

I think the thing to remember is that however normal it is, some people don't know that, and even if they do or have it explained to them, that doesn't mean they need to accept it. There are people who don't like being touched and those that don't like kids being anywhere near them.
This has reminded me of when I was a little kid myself and every assembly I'd have kids behind me touching my hair. I hated it! Even today as an adult the only people I will let stroke/touch my hair are my mother and my boyfriend. I'm not a person who dislikes being touched, but I do dislike strangers and people I've just met invading my personal space.
I've had a little boy cram right beside me on a bench despite there being plenty of space, and start poking me constantly, and when I refused to pay him any attention even putting his hand across the book I was reading. I still ignored him, as did his mother, and when he finally realised he wasn't getting my attention, he even bounced off my foot getting down from the bench.
I'm sure some people will think I'm a cow for not giving the kid a sappy smile but as far as I was concerned he was being irritating- just because someone thinks their child is adorable doesn't mean everyone else will think so. Even if he had been adorable and touching me softly rather than poking me hard in my side, I'd have still been concerned at how clean his hands were and wishing I could be left alone.0 -

I've even had to prise him away from my lips or around my finger nails as he's started picking at a bit of skin he's seen.
Strange child, been doing it over a year.
Oh god, thats my daughter too and she is 5. She loves peeling sunburnt skin off too...0 -

my husband can't leave dry skin alone either, although his particular speciality is if you have a tiny bit of "sleep" in your eye, he just can't leave it alone, even when I say "i'll sort it out when i get to work" or whatever, he has to get in there with his fingers, it drives me nuts!
Our cats often have a bit of sleep in their eyes too, he only tried it once on them and got a scratch for his troubles! Doesn't do it anymore but you can tell it bugs him!!!0 -
Op - You littlun is quite normal as you can see from the previous posts:)
When my DD was a toddler, she used to like stroking my DH's armpit hairs:eek: - she called them 'cats'.
A lot of people won't mind you toddler stroking, but some will, so
I think the key, is if you are out to try & distract her when she reaches for other peoples hair - how about a dolly with some nice silky hair for her to play with when she is out.0
