Finding a cheaper deal Orange maybe?

                    Hi,
Currently with Virgin Media for broadband package includes evening and weekand calls for £15.99 a month.
Have done several searches using my postcode and home phone number online and Orange keeps coming up at £6.50 a month
Now when I rang Orange was told it would be £30 a month [including line rental] as I am not an Orange customer. Could get this down by £5 a month if I get a PAYG phone.
Going to look into a contract mobile [cheapest deal] with Orange see if that makes any difference.
Cashback does help but over an 18 month contract its not much of a saving.
Or should I just talk too Virgin to see if I can get a better deal?
Kev

If you are on Virgin National ADSL then virtually anything will be better even Orange (but not cheaper).
If you are on Virgin Media cable then it must be a legacy package at that price and I doubt that VM will offer the same for less.
£15.99 for broadband and phone is unlikely to be bettered on price anywhere IMO so if that is your only criteria you may as well carry on with what you have.0 -
You won't beat that price, line rental almost costs that for a start0

Virgin media [not cable] is £15.99 a month [includes evening weekend calls] but does not include line rental which I pay BT for.
As Orange is not local I will pay more, but tried to hammer down price using cashback maybe getting a PAYG phone but its still showing at £14.50 a month
Not sure what the deal would be if I was a contract Orange mobile customer [cheapest deal I could find was £60 for a 24 month contract]
Of course you would have to allow for that in saving.
Why is it so confusing and complicated, does it really need to be that way.

If you have a BT line then check what LLU services are available to you and report back - http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php
LLU over on the right are likely to be the best deals with top contender being O2 followed by Sky. If you are a low usage user then compalies such as PlusNet may be good for you if there is an LLU presence in your exchange.
Non cable Virgin is now called Vigin National btw and is pretty poor (as is Orange)

            No LLU only ADSL
So guess only option is BT

No LLU just means no LLU it doesn't rule out any of the hundreds of other ISPs that there are. It does mean that you won't be able to get the best deals though. If you don't have a high download requirement take a look at PlusNet or a light package from one of the other decent ISPs such as IdNet.No LLU only ADSL
So guess only option is BT
Kev
btw LLU is still ADSL.0 -
            Thanks for clearing that up

I rang one of the comparison companies and they offered BT [free calls all the time] for the same money £15.99 a month first three months free.... though I have pay postage on hub £4.99 so not much of a saving there.
May try ringing Virgin National see if they have any deals.
Was trying to save a £100 a year its not easy been a money saver lol

I agree they are not the best but my searches for my area do not show anything other than virgin, orange and bt.
Plusnet does come up.. but I have not really heard much about them
Worth a call I guess
...
Thanks

            Right....
Plusnet Value is £22.74 month [including 11.25 line rental] first three months are free
So broadband is £12.99
A year with plusnet will cost £116.91
With Virgin its £191.88
A saving of £74
Possible cashback is £38
Looking at £112 total saving
phew......
Can I do better?
