'Jimmythesinger' & 'annie1336' - both first time posters doing a hatchet job on a rival?
Any long term MSE posters who wish to tell me who is good in the cheapo specs providing stakes would be most welcome.
I'd go to our local opticians, but they send the orders away. I should have asked who to?!0 -

I ordered a couple of spare pairs just over a year ago from Selectspecs and got them 3 weeks later. As I knew they were coming from Hong Kong I didn't think that was a long time. They are more scratch resistant than the pairs I've bought from Opticians.
Almost forgot to mention they were £6/pair + £3.50 P&P.0 -
I just placed my second order yesterday. First order took forever to arrive, but coated tthinned lenses for frameless specs, we were looking at the premium end of Boots's range to go rimless. As I seem to constantly forget them, I decided £15 a pair was cheap enough to have multiple pairs, one for work, one by my bed, and one in my coat pocket, so spend another £30 (+3.50 postage) on 2 more pairs.
So, aside from the speed which was and I'm certain will again be VERY slow, I can't object to having 3 pairs of rimless coated specs for under £50 where most peoples grim ranges start way above that.0 -
I've bought successfully from several online companies, including selectspecs without problems.0

The most infuriating company to deal with!
I have been waiting over 2 1/2 months for glasses, sent recorded delivery but not delivered. You have to wait 25 working days after dispatch before telling them you haven't received the package!
I requested a refund as I didn't want to wait at least another 3 weeks, which is how long it took last time to make them before dispatch. This is in line with their terms of sale (section 17).
The customer service system is awful and the support staff have simply chosen to ignore what I've written with no explanation.
Wishing I'd spent the £5 I saved going here by going elsewhere. Very poor!0 -
Paddyrg,
Our delivery service has been vastly improved over the past several months, most customers are receiving their orders from Hong Kong within 2 weeks at the moment. If you have the time, I'd be interested to hear back from you when your order arrives.“Official Company Representative

jmle101,
Apologies for this. Is there still a problem? If you can give me an order or ticket number I can look into this for you. I'd also be interested to know what part of the customer service system you found awful so we can make any required improvements.“Official Company Representative

I actually signed up to this site specifically to complain about selectspecs, because I thought others should know.
I have never been so annoyed and infuriated by a company enough to feel the need to do this. I must also say that my purchase was for a £135 pair of designer glasses, made and shipped from the UK, not a £10 pair shipped from Hong Kong.
Perhaps my expectations on customer service are different from those buying a bargain basement product.
Take my comment as you will, but consider yourself warned if you too have the same experience.0 -

You signed up to MSE in Oct 2007. You must have been really annoyed if it's taken you that length of time to compose your complaint.0
