The item only arrived on friday without the batteries that it was supposed to include so i dont even know if it works yet! was going into town to get the tapes and batteries for it this morning.

Is it just me who finds it really rude when people ask for feedback?

  • It is a bit, and they are milking it with their "Note: Every eBay user has a Feedback profile made up of comments from other eBay users."

I never ever ask for feedback, I just pop the duplicate invoice in the parcel.
However, you're hardly going to leave feedback when it's untested. And I'd be miffed if it said batteries and there weren't any.

Doesn't say "leave me positive" so you could still neut for no batteries though!

    What a crock.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.
  • If I'm asked to leave feedback, then I don't!
  • im tempted to leave feedback (after i have tested n find its ok) of:

'Heres the feedback you emailed to ask for'

I would never dream of asking anyone to leave feedback if they do then great if they dont then its not the end of the world.

I have to slightly disagree. As a seller, I get around 20% of buyers never leaving feedback. Many of these have only a few feedbacks and you would think that they would be keen to build up their numbers.

I use feedback given to me as confirmation that the customer has received the item and is happy with it. It is extremely valuable information for a seller to know that the customer isnt still sat there waiting for an item and that the product line is liked.

I send out an automated feeback reminder just once, after 30 days from dispatch. Its amazing how this generates responses such as' I will leave feedback once it arrives'. Hang on, 30 days have gone by so why didnt they let me know they havnt got it. If anything it keeps the lines of communication open.

I send the one, nicely worded feedback reminder, and then leave it. If I received a reminder it wouldnt get my back up as I always leave feedback and would be pleased to be prompted to do so as I would most likely have forgotten. If a buyer receives it and thinks 'Im not leaving feedback now because they have asked for it' then I would probably prefer not to receive feedback from, or leave feedback for, such customers anyway.

    And anyway....why not leave feedback?

I believe this is a standard message generated by something like Selling Manager Pro.

It regularly gets peoples' backs up - it's time ebay changed it.

  • Its not the fact that i wouldnt have left feedback. Its more the fact that i bought it on BIN on wednesday evening, i recieved it on friday, it was supposed to be supplied with batteries (as stated in the auction and they are missing), i asked the seller what size tapes it took so i could get some before it arrived both through email and through paypal when the payment was sent - he never bothered to answer me. i couldnt get in to town on saturday so couldnt get the tapes or batteries so i dont even know if it works!

When i know that it works then i will proceed to leave feedback but until then he can forget it!

I would never ever ask for feedback i find it rather rude after all feedback is optional. However if i havent heard anything from my buyers after a couple of weeks i do send them a quick email asking them if they got it and everything was ok with it, but i would never specifically ask them to leave feedback!

yep same here. When I send an item I always put something long the lines of

Thank you for buying, your item is being posted today, please could you leave me feedback once it arrives with you and then I can do the same for you. IF there are any problems please contact me asap

That's it, I then leave it to them, if they don't leave feedback I don't ask again.....must admit I don't leave it for them if they don't leave it for me though ;)

  • We had a customer that only paid after NPB was started - between the end of auction and start of NPB we had 1 email from them.

Anyway, we sent the item and decided to have a think about what feedback to leave - not wanting it to be a kneejerk reaction.

A few days after they received the item, they left positive feedback, then asked a couple of days later if we would do the same.

We were still thinking about what to leave him.
He then asked again a couple of days later and a couple after that told us if we didn't leave feedback he would take matters further.

So we told him that because of the delay in payment, lack of communication from him and pestering for feedback would normally result in a negative being left...

He replied saying we were being unfair, he said he explained why payment was "late" (which he did) claimed our mail address was incorrect (it's not) and stated he would not recommend us to any of his friends or customers! We still as yet have not (and probably won't) left him feedback!

I should add normally we leave feedback the day we send out the item.
  • Exactly how did he think he would be able to 'take matters further'?

i bought something off an ebay seller recently who only had 8
whilst this wasnt a problem.... i paid by cheque, 3 days alter he left +ve feedback as he had received the cheque, waited 8 days before asking when he would send the item..... told when he had paid the cheque and cleared and could i send him my address..... ok , left for another week, emailed again asking when it would be posted, told that day (a thursday), nothing in post friday/saturday/monday, started to think i had been ripped of, got an email from them on the monday asking for my postal address...... nnnnnhhh, so i emailed it again, (he would have had it on the 2 emails from ebay, plus my first email.

i raised a non received item dispute on the friday
got email from him on the friday about leaving feedback and cancelling the dispute. didnt respond
received item on the saturday - 3 weeks after winning the auction.....
monday got another email asking me to leave him feedback......
tested the item, all well and good, left him a neutral feedback with honest comments, slow deliver (4 weeks from start to finish), wasnt impressed with packaging either.....

weds, received another email telling me to leave feedback, then 10 mins later another email asking why i had left a neutral........
