    No, I got some help and it's much better than it used to be. This was the thread - longer ago than I thought. :o

    removing ctfmon control panel, regional and language options,languages, details, advanced, tick the Turn off advanced text services, ok

    Disable JavaQuickStarterService (jqs.exe) - control panel, java,advanced, misc, untick java quick starter and place icon in tray, and untick everything under debugging

    Disable machine debug manager(MDM.EXE) - IE, tools, internet otions, advanced, disable script debugging

    there should be something in add/remove for apple software, if not this disables the dnsresponder service

    I've removed the Bonjour with Add/Remove.

    I just did what the startuplite said - think I've disabled about 3 things.
    If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

    Somehow I appear to be backing up my phone...not exactly sure why I was unable to do that before. :D
