Avast is out of date, should be v5
adaware/superantispware isn't that good, just slows your pc down.

how much ram have you got, and what is your commit charge in task manager/performance?

uninstall bonjour/apple stuff if you don't use it.

try this to trim your startup bloat http://www.malwarebytes.org/startuplite.php

how often do you plug a tom tom, and nokia phone in?

I have absolutely no idea how to interpret the log, but this bit intrigues me...I have never owned an iPod...what's all that about then?

Maybe you installed iTunes at some time.

this is a hangover from a previous AVG installation...might be well advised (even though the file's gone) to run the avg removal tool to get shut of any other hangovers.

I would do a full scan of mbam in safe mode with networking - keep tapping F8 on startup to access safe mode. (remember to update mbam before scanning). Let it delete all it finds and post the log, then do a new HJT scan and post the log.

With at least one trojan found already, I'd be prepared to have to run combofix too, but one step at a time :)

Hang on, hang on, hang on...I can't do everything at once. :o

    I've updated Avast to v5.
    I've uninstalled AdAware and SuperAntiSpyware.
I don't know how much RAM I've got.
I don't know what the commit charge is, and now when I bring up the task manager it's different and got no tabs and I can't close it. :o
I don't know what bonjour / apple stuff is.
I plug a TomTom in every few months, when I need my maps knackering (I'm convinced it ruins your maps in the hope that you'll buy the new ones.)
I plugged a phone in once because I thought I could download the numbers to the PC and thus have a back up, but couldn't work out how to do it so gave up.
I don't remember ever installing iTunes.
Which bit of the AVG remover do I use?

That bit might as well have been written in Hebrew. :o

Apple stuff should be listed in control panel, add/remove programs, along with tomtom/nokia, which are running all the time, even though you only use them periodically or not at all. startuplite should also remove some of your startup bloat.

double click on the grey border of task manager, 3 commit charge figures and physical ram is listed under the performance tab, best done after running startuplite and then a reboot as you have uninstalled some applications.

register avast5 by right clicking if you haven't already

none of this advice is related to infections btw, just tuning your startup apps, which if you are low on ram, may be slowing your pc down.

    is your googling ok now?

Hey, you're doing well so far..have faith :)

I would do a full scan of mbam(MalwareBytes Anti-Malware) in safe mode with networking - (when you switch the computer on, then >>) keep tapping F8 on startup to access safe mode (starts windows in a cut-down diagnostic mode where pretty much only essential bits of the operating system are allowed to run). (remember to update mbam before scanning). Let it delete all it finds and post the log, then do a new HJT scan and post the log (you've done this already ;).

With at least one trojan found already, I'd be prepared to have to run combofix too, but one step at a time :)

ok loads of ram, swapping won't be an issue, but running too many startup apps may still have a slight performance hit

    Avast says it's registered. :)

I think I'd like to hang on to the TomTom stuff, although I obviously don't want it running all the time.
Is there a way I can download the numbers from my phone to the PC? If not, I'll bin the Nokia software too.

I posted a thread a while back entitled "grinding to a halt", because it was. Everything wanted a piece of it at startup. :rotfl:
