Thing is though, I'm looking to cancel this contract so I can get an iPhone 4...

    Qu'elle surprise!

You have absolutely no grounds for getting out of your contract. You chose the phone, the deal and the term. Welcome to the world of being an adult and accepting responisibility for your actions. Just because you want the latest shiny toy doesn't mean you should be able to shirk those responsibilities.

There are people who come on here with genuine issues and other people who do their level best to help them resolve their problems. On this occasion you don't fall into either category. I will, however, give you the following advice:

Count back 120 days from your upgrade date. On that date get in touch with Three and ask if they will upgrade you to an iPhone. I doubt they will but you can try. Remember, however, that in January it will only be 5 months from the launch of the next iPhone and that one will be even newer and shinier than the one you currently want so badly (apparently). Come April, you will only be two months away from that launch. If you go with Three you will be tied into a 24-month contract. That means you will have to put up with having an iPhone 4 for nearly two years while all your friends get the newer iPhones in June 2011 and 2012. If I were you, I would wait until June next year and get the upgraded iPhone4.1/5. But I'm not you and my phone isn't a fashion statement, it's a tool for communication.

Just a thought for the OP, on ebay they are offering an airphone 4, which is an iphone lookalike for £60, it makes and recieves calls (which some would argue is more than the real iphone does) .
  • You could phone and tell them you have financial problems and in need of reducing your monthly outgoings. You might get lucky and they'll allow you to move to a cheaper tariff for the remainder of your contract. Once this happens, give it a few days and phone back to ask how much to buy out your contract. If you're lucky you could get down to a £10-15 tariff, which would give you a buy-out of £80-120 which would be less than the value of your phone.

Then you'd be free to waste ~£1000 on perhaps the worst engineered phone ever - and return to this forum in a month to yet again moan about your problem.

MountainMan101 Speaks wisdom! I was just about to post about this. Just explain to them that you are not in a good financial position currently and they may be able to help you and put you in a better position :D

Can you point to any threads on this forum where this ploy, even when true, has been successful? I am sorry but I can't find the flying pigs icon to add to my post.
