I'm looking for advice on how to waiver my 3 contract cancellation fee.
I have a terrible Sony Ericsson Satio right now, I hate it, and my current plan is abysmal. I'm paying £35 a month for 300 texts or minutes. That's right, that's only 300 texts OR minutes.
It's terrible. The cancellation fee is £295. I can sell my phone for £140, so I'd be paying £155.
However, I'd really like to be able to cancel the contract without paying the fee at all, I know this can be done in some circumstances; people on here have posted success stories before. Could anyone help me/give me advice on how I can negotiate them to waiver the fee entirely?
Thanks guys.

Sorry love but explain why they should?0

No reason. I just know people have done in the past. I'm looking for the same treatment.
Well it seems like you are just trying to play the system (if there is one to play)
Load the PC suite onto your PC and follow the repair process, (if you have not already got the latest software update on the handset)
Then load SPB shell and enjoy the handset :beer:0 -
So you're unhappy with a phone and a plan that you chose - and now you want out of the contract for free?0

This is the problem with 18/24 month contracts tied to a "free" phone. As time goes by, better and cheaper contracts come on the market and more advanced, more desirable phones are released.
So you find that the great deal you agreed a contract for is no longer the best thing since sliced bread.
Well, networks and resellers don't just waive contracts. There has to be a real reason for them to do so. Moving home and losing signal isn't one - neither is deciding you don't like the handset when you have about 9 months left on what is probably an 18 month contract. Removing a mast that supplied your house may be a valid reason, changing the terms of their contract may be another, going bust is almost certainly a get out.
Next time, go sim-only and buy yourself an unlocked phone to go with it. Then, if you see a better deal on offer, give 30-days notice, get your PAC code and move on. In the last 3 months or so, there may be a deal on offer from your network or even 3rd parties, but do not be tempted in your last 3 months to go for any new contract that they offer you to upgrade or you will find history repeating itself in a couple of years.
In the meantime, and I am not being unhelpful or nasty, just scan the forum and see all of the previous posts on getting out of a contract early and all of the replies.0 -
As the others have said, people get out of contracts because of an issue caused by the operator.
This is always the issue with longer contracts, after 12 months £30 was 300 minutes but its now 600 minutes yet you still only get 300 minutes. This is how things work, overtime allowances are higher for less money, but you get the 300 minutes for been tied in as it was a good deal at the time.
In some cases, you maybe able to ring up and state the contract is no longer good value and see if they can change you at no/little cost. Ensure it is just a tariff change not an upgrade, as an upgrade will tie you in for 12/18/24 more months + the remaining contract length.
Not liking your deal or handset anymore, or moving house to a no signal area is a customer issue and not a valid reason for terminating the contract.
If you want to leave early then you can pay to leave, which is pointless as you usually do not save much if anything by doing so. Im in a similarish boat simply because i wish I had a HTC desire over a nokia 5800, only because i have started android programming, and my contract ends in sept 2011. So if i want one ill just have to buy the handset outright.
This is the same treatment that is applied to everyone else.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
How long have you got left? Phones4u will normally offer a buyout when they are pushing to hit a sales target - could be up to £150 ish (although this wont be on the best phone out there). I'm an ex staffer, so not promoting, just throwing an option out there0

Til April. Thing is though, I'm looking to cancel this contract so I can get an iPhone 4, but 3 easily have the bets contract for an iPhone 4, seriously. I asked if I could upgrade but that'd mean buying the phone I have now which is like nearly £500 or something ridiculous. I don't really want to wait until April.0 -

At £500 you can get an iphone 4 sim free , I doubt the £500 is for the satio they were £400 sim free last year, last I looked £289 from SE and now withdrawn.
Like others have suggested, get into the habit of sim only contracts and buying a handset outright.0 -
You can't cancel the contact because you don't like the phone, next time research the phone before buying0
