In my opinion this is wrong.
If you buy something, you pay the price agreed.
Sure, before you get the item delivered the price may go down by £50.
It may also go UP by £50.
If it went up, would you contact them to pay the difference?
No. Thought not.
So why should they do it the other way around?
It's a fact of life, live with it.
It's called customer service. Which is why John lewis have such a good reputation and repeat customers.
Good customer service is what makes a company,

Well done John Lewis, a nice gesture.
I've always found their service very good - they do make the effort to keep customers happy. I ordered something online which was damaged in transit and they immediately sent a replacement and were very apologetic.
Their staff in store are normally very knowledgeable and helpful too - though there always seems to be more staff than shoppers.
Plus, a lot of products they sell (Like games, electricals, kitchen stuff) are far cheaper than many other shops.0 -

No. Thought not.
That's not really a fair comparison.
The comparable scenario is the price going up and them contacting you asking you to pay the difference, which is something that does happen. Many online shops (dare I say the majority) make sure in their T&C that there is no actual contract between you and them until [strike]delivery[/strike] dispatch, and those lacking in customer service will sometimes cancel your order if they don't like the price for whatever reason.
Besides, this was a gesture of goodwill, why are you complaining?0 -
I was in Tesco today and if it is the TV the OP posted about in another thread it was £499 on Saturday and today it has been reduced to £449, but Tesco want 70 odd pound for a five year warranty.0
