You did the right thing, the little boy is safe and him mum is a nutter! Pat yourself on the back and think of the little boy
Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last
  • Janine you are a hero :T! Or heroine, as I should say! You absolutely did the right thing, if you are in any doubt look at the "Fell off a train" thread where people have posted about their experiences of people not helping when they really should. If it was me, I would have been taking you back inside and treating you to a cuppa and a piece of cake in the cafe and buying you a bouquet of flowers - it would be the least you could do for someone who has just saved your child's life. Sod her, and be proud of yourself and what you did today. At least your little girl and bump have a good mummy .

Thank you, that's very kind! I've just spoken to my Mum and told her, she was disgusted and said the same as you. If somebody had done that to any of us when we were kids, she would be buying them a bunch of flowers!

I keep thinking 'what if' though, what if I didn't grab him in time and he was injured or worse. I'm terrible for the 'what ifs' I know its going to take me a good few hourse to calm down and stop shaking!

Several years ago my DH and I were eating breakfast right by the open sliding glass doors on the first floor in a hotel in Sri Lanka. An English group were sitting on the slightly higher level of the restaurant inside - and completely ignoring there 2 year old who had gone out through the doors onto the balcony, climbed up onto a chair, then onto a table and was about to launch herself over the balcony !!! I just managed to grab her before she made one hell of a mess on the patio about 15 feet below. The mother then proceeded to give me the benefit of a few four letter words for DARING to touch her little darling.

I couldn't believe her rudeness and ignorance.

Don't let it upset you - you did the right thing.

You have no need to fret over it, you did what any "responsible" adult would instinctively do. Imagine her attitude had you just stood there and idly watched as her child ran straight under the wheels of the car. Oh how it would have been all your fault for not intervening. As well as the drivers fault for "driving so fast", anybody else but HER fault.

Swearing in front of her own children, just goes to show what kind of an irresponsible parent she is, I would have had to say "mind your filthy language in front of MY child, and whilst your at it, learn how to watch yours, your lucky its just the hood rather than the head thats ripped".

Well done for doing what you did. :T

I watch my little boy like a hawk, as he is bad for escaping from places. I had to chase him up the street; he'd run out of playgroup when some other mums had opened the door. They just stood there doing fish impressions, when the stupid mares had just let him out.

Well done for being one of the 'decent' human beings on this planet for 'getting involved'....;)

Your a heroine...shame the parent didn't see it that way....to me though, you're a heroine, thank you for potentially saving a childs life.:T
