Vent - Incident in supermarket car park!

Hi
I just needed to vent!
This morning I was shopping at my local supermarket, had just finished and was out in the car park. I was walking towards the road (its a busy car park, expecially on Sat morns) when this toddler came running past me, heading straight for the road, there was a people carrier coming and my reaction (didn't even think about it) was to grab hold of this little boy. I had no doubt that he would have run in the path of this car, as being a little child and runnig quite fast, he wouldn't have been able to stop in time.
Everthing happened very quickly and I grabbed the little boys coat, and the hood ripped a little!
Anyway cue little boys mum coming over (had been chatting and smoking outside the entrance) and she had a go at me, raised her voice and swore (using very bad language) and demanded to know why I had grabbed her son and wanting me to buy a new coat! The little boy was crying, and the mum was getting very irate.
I was gobsmacked by this, I didn't think what I was doing, and I'm 99% sure he would have been hit by this car if I hadn't grabbed him. If somebody did this to my daughter I would be so thankful, not abusive and rude.
I felt quite threatened, I had my little girl with me and didn't know what to do. I left and didn't give her any money for a new coat, she was shouting at me as I left.
I feel really shook up and keep crying when I think about it, pathetic I know!
I know I did the right thing, but just wanted to get it off my chest.

Some people are so ignorant. You did the right thing so try and focus on that and not the wally. Hopefully when she calms down she may realise that you helped.:j0

I know it was the right thing, wasn't even a conscience decision! It just makes me sad that the first thing she thought about was money, not the wellbing of her little lad who was upset and crying.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

You acted correctly. Wouldn't be surprised if the coat didn't 'rip', but just 'ripped' a little bit more than it already was before you grabbed it.
Try to put it behind you.0 -
Good for you, Jannie!
Stupid woman is not worth a second more of your thoughts!
I saw a similar thing when a woman let her son out of her car to cross the road in front of her her and into the path of another. The second driver just managed to stop, as did i on the other side of road, but mother let rip at the chap who had avoided killing her son.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Should have slapped the woman as well!!!The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

There are some awful parents about arn't there, I'd have told the gobby bint that her child could have lost his life whilst your where busy smoking and talking to your other Jeremy Kyle mates in front of the store. And what an example to st to the little one, that kids going to grow up thinking its ok to shout abuse at people
I feel like I want to find her and give her a good hard smack in the gob for you.0 -

I feel like that now, didn't at the time though. I hate confrontation, especially now I've got my young daughter and I'm pregnant!
Maybe if I was alone and not pregnant, she would have got a piece of my mind (probably not a slap though!!:D):heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

You'd feel 100x worse if you'd just stood there and watched him get run over.
Like you said, you did the right thing. You were just unlucky that the boy's mother is [STRIKE]a rat-faced chav [/STRIKE] the rude type.
It's OK to cry, you'll feel much better about it tomorrow after a good nights sleep.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0
