i don't do the facebook/twitter comps & TBH don't much like them either, but to be fair these boards are for all comps, don't think it'd be right to exclude them, it's to cater for all comps/diff sites/ways/ & give everyone the chance to enter/join/etc, someone did ask a while back if a sticky could be made especially for the f/book/twitter comps but it didn't happen,
reluctantly agree with weeowenit now seems to be heading towards that way of comping,
& must admit i do wish some of the ops (some of them do, thank you to those who do) would put in thier title's it's for f/b/twitter
as would save time clicking into the post then finding out after
Hiya, I didn't actually say that the Facebook comps shouldn't be here just that I don't do them and I find it annoying there are so many these days. What I would like is if all posters mentioned in the title that it was a Facebook (or Twitter etc) comp so that people like me don't waste time clicking on them. I know some people do but a large number aren't doing it at the moment.0 -

Hiya, i know, agree with you about putting it in the title,
i did start 'bumping' a couplewhen they weren't mentioned by putting 'facebook required' but no-one took much notice
:rotfl:
so gave it up as a bad job :rotfl:some of them you can hover over & it's wrote on the body of the op but some aren't
guess we just have to rely on the ops posting them & being kind enough to take the time to type it in, but if they've not much time/other rl things to do then it's just one of those things i thinkplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -

Well, it doesn't take long to just type two letters, FB, in the title...surely everyone must have the time to do that:eek:0 -

maybe not if you're trying to post comps , enter, catch up & have RL things to do :D

I think that someone said that there were already enough stickies, so we would not be allowed more. However, in my opinion, some of the stickies that we have now are not used very much and could perhaps be got rid of. (How many people actually look at the sticky called "Hotlinking" for example?) In my opinion, it would be better if facebook and twitter competitions were in their own sub board, like I won, I won, I won, or Regular competitions. I don't suppose either will happen though.0 -

hiya, yes, we were told there were enough stickies but think there's been new stickies added since it was asked for a sticky for the twitter/f/book comps,
the hotlinking one could be put with the 'copying comp text' as they are both imo virtually saying the same thing
still, as you say, don't suppose it will happen, but as i said before it would be much better if they did get up to date on here & had a section/thread for the f/book/twitter comps, they always manage to find a sticky for the advent/these will be mine etc comps so why not the others ??please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
i think there are possibly too many comps for fb/twitter to have stickies but a sub forum would be good....except that it would eb the same as the regular forum and people woudnt bother going to the sub forum to post because they dont use it and more people will see it on main and etc etc same as they refuse to post regular comps anywhere but main. (disclaimer: not aimed at anyone in particular, some people do use the regular sub forum correctly and i know that a specific set of rules over what counts for regulars would help)
though thinking about it we could end up with heaps of sub forums...one for tv comps, one for magazine comps, one for web but not paper magazines, one for shops eg nissa, premier, one for catalogues......maybe thats why they wont do it, it would end up never ending?
honestly and truthfully i would love to see the name of the website put in all comp titles, so itv ones would ahve itv in title, facebook, fb, shortlist would say shortlist, horror asylum horror as etc etc i do enter fb and twitter comps, but there are certain websites whose comps i dont enter and i too waste time opening that thread to discover its one i cant/wont use for whatever reason...same way you guys do the fb comps atm.0 -

Agreed, it would be daft to have lots of sub-forums but I also agree that it would be helpful if people could put as much info about the comp as they can in the title. Apart from wasting my time looking at Facebook and Twitter comps, I've clicked on the link of lots of comps lately to find that the prizes just havn't been described very well and are either not valid for me to enter (holidays from Ireland for example) or have not been described fully enough and turn out to be undsuitable (ie a prize described as a 'book' turns out to be books aimed at babies!).
I appreciate that some posters don't have a lot of time but it would be great if people could be as helpful as possible in both their titles and the description in their message regarding the comp.0 -
