If I see a retweet for a Twitter comp that I fancy entering, I check whether I am following the Company and if not I do so, then I go to their Homepage and retweet their competition post. I notice when checking @Barnabysue that a lot of people are simply retweeting my entry, what is the correct way to do it? Does anyone know?

  • here's a good comp.

You can win £100 of fancy dress with fancy dress outfitters.

There's a link at the bottom of their site all you have to do is find this pumpkin paul character.

I have struggled to find him yet though :-(

I believe that they way you are doing it is correct and that other people retweeting you wrong. But I am fairly new to twitter, so I may be wrong.

Regarding Twitter comps, Jane Willis (compergrapevine) has some excellent advice about entering competitions using Twitter.

Her blog can be found here -

Jane has won loads of prizes, and been featured in the media.

Her blog is definitely worth a look.
  • Warning - our local Netto West End Southampton told me this morning the comps had closed and they had removed the entry box ! After a chat with the manager he took my forms and said he'd add them to the box but I think they were probably destined for the nearest bin! Maybe just that one shop has closed things early but get there quick if you've any EFs to put in even though there should be almost a week to go. Have contacted Netto but no comments back yet. This happens all too often.

Thanks for that Libra10, I've read that now, very useful, on her advice I've blocked the people that were doing it, no idea who they were anyway.

Hi, I received an email from the Independent this morning, seems the Adventure Film Festival is running a FREE to enter competition to win a Nissan Qashqai +2 or weeks holiday to the Canadian Rockies.

    Definitly looks worth a punt.

Just google "Adventure Film Festival 2010"

As an aside they are running a nationwide film tour with FREE tickets too check it out.
