hiya, would that mean we've got to keep pm'ing/sending the info to whoever runs the reg lists in the stickies every time we post the new ones?
it does take a long time sometimes to type out all the info/t&c's, check issue numbers etc & specially on the puzzler/tab monthly ones as some are holidays etc,
also the prize details/etc on the weekies,
that's life/pick me up sometimes change the format on the forms so have to rearrange them every week so all in all it does take up a while to type them allif we have to keep asking the stickie people to update them as well it's going to take even longer ?
you're right korky and something I hadn't thought ofthere may not be a way of doing it then unless we had a sticky for mag threads that you could update with the latest link?
or just leave them as they arethat's what this discussion is for

Another point I have about things being posted as a thread in the regulars is that you have to be very on the ball if you want to keep up. Obviously you can't see any closing dates without going into the thread itself.
Say I went in there on a Monday to do all the "weeklies" one week. I would then have to go there the next Monday at exactly the same time in order to do the next week's "weeklies". If I was busy and didn't get round to this until Thursday or something, I would miss out on all competitions that ran from Wednesday to Wednesday. The same goes for "monthlies", not all of them start/finish at the start/finish of the month. If competitions are posted separately with separate end dates this isn't a problem. I am specifically talking about "weeklies" and "monthlies" at the moment as I know there have been issues brought up about "dailies" such as ClassicFM being posted like this.
the threads would still be posted the same way with the same titles/end dates, so however you search for them now will still work if you do the search for the whole comp boards not just the main board, or am I missing something? I did move some comps over yesterday (all the BGs do if they notice a reg comp on the main board) I went through gillas daily list and if it was linked from there but on the main board I moved it, I tried not to move ones that had been posted on very recently so as not to cause too much disruption and see how it went
so no massive changesjust a bit of tidying up[/QUOTE
The problem is that not all of the comps in my opinion are true Regular comps on Gillas thread but are MULTIPLE entry comps over a set period of time
Really think that what constitutes a regular comp really needs to be clarified to avoid any further confusion
I did address your last point in the rest of the post you quotedI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. A very good point twotimes and very good reason for all of the comps which have a set ending date being posted on the main board irrespective of whether they are Daily,Weekly or Monthly0 -

any thread with for eg 'daily until 31/12' in the title, where posters go in each day and post the latest answer is usually moved by one of the BG's to the regs board, and usually someone has asked gilla to add it to the list
surely these types of comps will be easier to find from the links in gillas threads than people coming across them randomly or when the end date searched, which may mean they have missed out on multiple entries
for comps such as 'the cube' comp which happen regularly but are posted individually with an end date the main board is fine, they get moved to GO when the end date is reached and the same poster usually puts them up each weekI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. I may be missing something myself here but how are the Regular comp ending dates searchable when they are posted E: DAILY E: E: WEEKLY MONTHLY
this would only work if the comps were tagged DAILY - MONTHLY - WEEKLY at the end of the title and comp end date at the front as is now on the main board0 -
A new sticky on the main board reminding people to post reg comps in the reg board and linking to each of the list threads will help until things settle down, including some guidelines on constitutes a reg comp (I'll go through this discussion again soon and look at everyones points on what should be a reg comp, discuss it with the other BG's, then let you know what we think before anything is posted) yes there are going to be differing opinions on what is a reg but hopefully we can come to some agreement with anomolies being sorted on an individual basisSorry Glad I must be missing something for I can't see where this was addressed?
I've quoted the bit about discussing what is a reg comp above
so we would let people know what we think and let it be discussed here, I'm not sure a poll of users would be useful just yet, as we're not changing anything, just using the regs board for the reason it was set up by MSE in the first placeI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. it shouldnt be that hard to search considering theres not that many pages compared to 1000s on the main board0 -

I use advanced search, put the date in this way eg 31/12
select 'search titles only' then select 'competitions time' and underneath tick 'also search in child forums',
so the search bring me up anything with 31/12 in the title in main or regs comps boardsI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards.
