There is a competition here to win a Specsavers football signed by the Legends.
We test your football knowledge with 10 questions on North East football.
I know nothing about football, so could someone who does please post this competition for me?
Thank you.It is a scientific fact that your body will not absorb calories if you take it from another person's plate.:A :A :AChocolate is the answer and I don't give a damn whatthe question is.;)0 -

I've installed 'Adblock Plus' and the 'Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper' for Firefox and I've managed to make the forum look much more slimline (it's loading really quickly now too which is a huge bonus)
When you've installed both of them you can use the Element Hiding Helper from the drop down menu 'Select element to hide' and it puts red boxes around things when you hover over them and you can get it to hide them by clicking it. You have to be careful not to remove some things (I tried to remove a table at the bottom and it made all the posts disappear!! :rotfl:), but I've managed to get rid of the Masthead (The part with Martin's pic and the links to parts of the site), Thread Stats, Forum Top (The Important this Forum is not moderated bit), everything on the Right Hand Side of the screen (doing this has made the thread box spread all the way across the screen which is really good, no white space) and the Resource Bar (The bit under the big thread/board title text)
I was hating the new look before I did this but it's so much better now, no clutter! :j :j
(Will post this in the thread about the entered button aswell in case not everyone checks in here!)
thanks for thati had adblock but not the element hiding helper as i didnt understand what it did, think i will enjoy the use of that on a lot of websites.
where does the drop down menu appear though? i dont have a clickable options choice int he addons list for element hiding helper, and cant find it anywhere else? thanksThere is a competition here to win a Specsavers football signed by the Legends.
Thank you.
that reminds me....when i was in specsavers last week i had a read of their mag, and in it there was a comp to win a holiday to the carribean. i guess it is this one
http://www.virginholidays.co.uk/info/about/specsavers_competition/
but terms seem to be for the one that was last years comp (its in game over with same url). cant find another one on here nor via google. does anyone want to see if they have better luck than me with finding details?0 -

I've got a red 'ABP' button on my toolbar on the very right hand side with a little down arrow to the right of it, that's where I can see the 'Select element to hide' option, if you haven't got the button you can go into the Adblock Plus preferences and under 'Options' it should say 'Show in toolbar' if you tick that it should show up(I'm on a Mac, so I'm not sure if it's a slightly different setup on Windows and Mac or not)
If it helps the element filters I've got are:
forums.moneysavingexpert.com##DIV#MSEThreadStats (This gets rid of the box in the first post of a thread)
forums.moneysavingexpert.com##DIV#forum_top (This gets rid of the Important this forum is not moderated warning)
forums.moneysavingexpert.com##TD#MSEForumsRHS (Gets rid of the whole of the right hand side so that there's no boxes or white space, it stretches the thread out to fill it)
forums.moneysavingexpert.com##DIV#MSEResourceBar (This gets rid of the links underneath the thread title)
forums.moneysavingexpert.com##DIV#MSEMasthead (This gets rid of the bit with Martin's pic and the links to the other parts of the website (Sorry Martin!!) it's easier to use without this when entering comps as I don't need to scroll down as far to see the post or click thanks and enter!!)
Hope that helps!0 -
...To everyone who has concerns about Skimlinks maybe you should also have concerns about an old friend of ours Google Analytics...
These scripts can hang around websites in various guises. Assuming you use Firefox (highly recommended) then NoScript and Ghostery are absolute must-haves IMHO, with stuff like Google Analytics and Skimlinks permanently tagged as untrusted. They're not the only offenders though, and while some sites won't work without some scripting being allowed, it's often only one or two scripts that matter - there may be anything up to a dozen others that you don't need and don't want - usually trackers similar to those mentioned. Often it's simply websites trying to finance themselves with clickthroughs, or generated user records, but frankly I see that as their problem. Can't recall the website, but I encountered one (retail) site that gave 20 NoScript and a dozen Ghostery warnings. No trouble blocking them, but I still didn't go back there. And while there are some scripts I allow NoScript to pass through, I've never come across any Ghostery warning that didn't result in my blocking the offending code.
And while perhaps not exactly must-have, I do recommend both the CSlite and Better Privacy add-ons - the first for general cookie control, and the second for Flash cookeis which often aren't picked up by other cleaners.0 -
Hiya All
Will someone have a look at this post and try and work out what's gone wrong - I had PM'd RCB initially as I thought she had posted her comp as a reply to a thread but, looking at it again, it looks like a merge error by a BG
Hope someone can work it out

It's a merge error by a beegee, If u requested the merge/or maybe ask bigsister2008 and know which beegee merged it, just explain it has been merged with the wrong op xxx Any of the beegees can redo the merge xxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
thinbk i wont try messing with hiding elements again lol, managed to block the whole page somehow which messed up viewing the forum at all. for some reason i have to hide each and every individual link in the boxes on the rhs to get rid of all that. was hoping i would then not have a scroll across the bottom of the screen since that bugs me about the new layout. i cant figure out how to add your filters, it doesnt seem to let me paste them into the add element box.
ahh well never mind, thanks for trying to help0
