This has been suggested before, but it is against the site rules.
Found the rule for youWhy can't I give something to/buy something from someone on the forum?
The safety of our forum users is paramount and for this reason we can't allow anyone to exchange their personal details either on the open forum or via PM, however honourable the intention.
This means we don't allow selling/trading/exchanging/swapping or giving as gifts, nor links to your ebay auctions, or other forms of advertising.0 -
yes , its for personal safety etc.you would need to supply names address and so on to the other person and theres always the chance that soemone could scam youEx forum ambassador

can i just ask... im very new to all this and i just wondered how many competitions do you enter daily roughly to get such wonderful prizes? I work full time (term time only) and have a 2 year old and dont think i'll ever have enough time to enter loads and loads!0

There are a number of swapping sites that members who have prizes can join, I think there are some forum posts about them. Bigwardrobe and swapz are two that come to mind that trade clothing, electronics, tickets etc.2012 wins:
Thank you to all competition posters0 -
Hi Lullypops. The 'older' experienced members could give you a much better answer then me But...
My understanding is that the whole rationale of comp winning is that it is a statistical thing. i.e. enter one comp = hardly any chance of winning. Enter a thousand comps and you might win one. I don't know what the % is that you have to enter before the odds give a reasonable chance of a win. I do approx an hour a day and enter lots quickly using form fill and the VERY helpful answers etc provided by our friends on the board. Don't manage every day. I've had about twenty smallish wins. The biggest being an epilator. All wanted and useful prizes though. I only enter what I would want. Hope that's helpful.0 -
Just wondering (have searched, but might have missed it?) - has anyone thought of starting a "Swap shop" thread for unwanted prizes?
For instance, if I won a load of luxury girly toiletries, I might not want them (and Mrs T is very particular about her brands!) but there might be ladies on the board that would want to swap with something more appropriate for me?
I appreciate that a lot give prizes for xmas etc, but still thought it might be an idea?[/QUO
MSE Compers on fb - have a look;)0 -
Just thought this might help some people struggling with the new look styled board:
I've installed 'Adblock Plus' and the 'Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper' for Firefox and I've managed to make the forum look much more slimline (it's loading really quickly now too which is a huge bonus)
When you've installed both of them you can use the Element Hiding Helper from the drop down menu 'Select element to hide' and it puts red boxes around things when you hover over them and you can get it to hide them by clicking it. You have to be careful not to remove some things (I tried to remove a table at the bottom and it made all the posts disappear!! :rotfl:), but I've managed to get rid of the Masthead (The part with Martin's pic and the links to parts of the site), Thread Stats, Forum Top (The Important this Forum is not moderated bit), everything on the Right Hand Side of the screen (doing this has made the thread box spread all the way across the screen which is really good, no white space) and the Resource Bar (The bit under the big thread/board title text)
I was hating the new look before I did this but it's so much better now, no clutter! :j :j
(Will post this in the thread about the entered button aswell in case not everyone checks in here!)0 -
MSE Compers on fb - have a look;)
I have decided that I am going to try and get to grips with facebook. I thought that there was a thread somewhere on MSE about facebook - and people looking for new friends to add, just for the purpose of comping, but I cannot find it. Does anyone remember such a thread and could they post a link to it, if they can find it.
Thanks.0 -
