I am having clear out issues today - Have 5 pairs of shoes that I want to get rid off - checked out e bay and don't think I'll get much for them and think they'd be a pain in the butt to package and post. What do you guys do with old shoes??? Charity shop? Shoe bin? Rag n' phone man??? There's also a campaign at Clarks with Unicef but just don't know what's best!!
Also now thinking I might keep my dress
and haven't got round to ebaying my sunnies either...
Shoes - isnt a pund better than nothing? I have sold some stuff that i wanted more, but somethingis better than nothing! I packed with newspaper/bubble wrap and a black for waterproofing and the essential cellotape...some shoes i stuff with a bit of newspaper to help keep shape.
But then again if they are really old and not in very good condition - carboot or charity shop.
my mood is improving by the hour - my experimenting with courgette cake turned out well - nutmeg and walnuts in one, the other i added more flour and baking powder for extra fluffyness and added star anaise. I am freeing a small loaf to see if its ok when defrosted if YES then will be using up the courgette glut at the allotment in cakes!
hope everyone is well
Sambeen away for a while..need to get on financial track! debts.....Post Grad Student Loan, Northern Rock Loan, Egg CC, Halifax CC, A&L CC, A&L overdraftAllotment plot holder since Feb 2008 :j0 -
Hi everyone - what bloomin orrible weather!
Today got off to an early start with middle of the night visitor. My friend's water broke and she deposited her little girl with me en route to the hospital! She was obviously too excited to sleep so we cuddled up on the sofa and watched Beauty and the Beast at three in the morning. No word from the hospital yet, but hopefully for my friend there will be soon.
Also today I:
1) Took the kids to my Mum's. My sister and nephews are down here for the week so it was nice to catch up. We will all go out tomorrow if the weather improves.
2) LSD - £1 on Vic Reeves' autobiography from a charity shop.
3) Had lunch at Wetherspoons, but OH paid. A veggie burger, chips and a pint is only £3.99 in our local!
4) Sold some of the kids old toys via Netmums and got £25. We will put this towards something they can share.
5) Lots of hokey cokey drying indoors
6) Checked banking, quidco, did SC etc
7) Browsed Tesco Clubcard deals and tried to decide what to cash our points in for. We want to use them for days out in a couple of weeks when both OH and I are off work.
8) ETA - Have also cashed in some survey points for £20 vouchers to go towards Christmas.
Right, off to tiptoe into the kitchen and rustle up something for dinner. Everyone else in the house has fallen asleep so I shall try not to wake them and enjoy the peace!
Have a great evening, L x0 -

no its peasy! Ok I made a ham hock in the SC earlier in the week, made a pasta bake with 75% of the meat & saved the stock & bones & 25% of the meat for soup.
Soak some (sorry I just bung things in & don't have exact amounts
) yellow split peas over night. Then drain & boil for 10 mins. Drain. Sweat an onion, add yellow split peas & cover with boiling water (maybe double water, don't do what I did & not put enough water in I've been left with a delish soup that I can eat with a fork:rotfl: (google the measurements!)) & add stock cube, pepper, simmer for 20 mins. Add meat & cook for another 5-10 mins. Whizz up in a blender. mmmmm
I've got a link to a chinese chicken & sweatcorn soup if you want it? haven't made it yet but it looks delish xDF as at 30/12/16
