You need to open a co-op cashminder account not a current account. You can do this by telephone or at a branch. Have another go and be specific about it being a cashminder account0

I am having massive problems with Payday loans and other forms of credit at the minute and I am going through the CCCS.
I have walked in Barclays last Friday and by today I have a Basic Bank Account, Telephone and Internet Banking and a Savings Account if I wish to put into that.
Barclays and CO OP are supposed to be 2 of the best banks to take people in any possible kind of money situation.
If you have a seperate account for your wages then this can not be taken unless you give the details to any of the people who want money from you. If anything goes wrong and any money is not paid to a payday loan company then may keep attempting to take money from your bank account they have the details of.
This is not pleasent but it may honestly happen.
Best of luck0 -
then on the friday when i get paid.. just put £70 in my bank to get it back to normal.. but will i not have to pay interest?

3. Stop using that account for now, clear the overdraft on it as soon as you get paid. Then check with the bank that no charges are due to go out and that it's all clear to close the account and close it.I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
As of the last count I have cleared [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt.

You need a new account because people have found that payday loan companies manage to take money even if direct debits and cards have been cancelled. There was someone on here recently who even had money taken out of a new account they'd opened with their bank! I'm not sure how they do it, but it's caused all kinds of problems.
The co-op's recommended because it's not linked to any other banks. For instance, if you ended up owing your old bank some charges which you didn't know about, if your new account was with a bank in the same group then they can take the money out of the new account.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

Just applied for it on the phone and gotta ring them back Tuesday or something.
Sounds alright though.
I need to go into work tomorrow and change the payment details around. Into my mums bank or something for this week. The write to these payday loan companies telling them that i'll pay them when i can, and can they freeze the interest etc..
Anyone know any sample letters or whatever, sure i heard something about that...0 -
I know Secure Trust Bank don't do credit checks for their Basic Bank Account, they just do the required ID checks.
You can apply online and get an account there and then apparently : http://www.securetrustbank.com/prepaid-current-account/0 -
You have to pay for that?
Hmmmmm i aint in worjk today, so first thing in morning im gonna go in and ask them to pay me into the other account.
Anyone any more info on what to say in these letters? !0 -
Yes sorry, there is a monthly fee with that one but you can technically get a full fully working bank account inside 15 minutes0
