Your permission for the card transaction has to be given separately, so if the OP wasn't told about it on the phone then it's recoverable. Likewise if they said, "great, so the last thing now is we need to take a fee of £xx.xx from that card right now to complete the processing of your application" and he said to them not to do that or that it wasn't Ok then it's recoverable.

Do you need the wages for food and rent Cartman?

If you don't then just walking into your branch and closing your account will stop the payday companies having any further access to it. You wages wont go into it, they'll bounce back to your employer and you'll have to speak to the accounts person at work to get them paid out again (by which time you should have new account details to give the accounts department).

BACS is the usual system for paying wages into employees accounts, it has to be authorised by the workplace a few days before the payments actually reach the employees. I am not sure how many days it is. One way or another you're going to have to speak to them, so better to speak to them asap, hopefully they're still at thier desks now. Just tell them you've got a problem with your bank account and you would like your wages to not be paid into the old account any more, starting right away. That you are opening a new account and will give them the details as soon as you have them.

The one tricky part to this is that you are overdrawn. A bank wont let you close an account that is in the red. If you can't get your mum or a mate to sub you the overdrawn amount till payday (interest free) then you need to speak to bank, let them know that all Direct Debits, standing orders, transfers or bill payments going out of your account need to be stopped right now along with your card. Then after you get paid again put in the exact amount to cover the overdraft (ask the bank as they may be adding fees) and then close the account or at least ask the bank to take off any overdraft facility so it can't go into the red again and leave it dormant for now.

Then rinse your account then close it .

Maybe i am confused , please correct me if wrong

The OP has said they owe various payday loan companies various amounts , they also said they have paid an admin fee of £69.50 to Yes Loans

Ok i get that , they say then , they owe their bank £69.50......overdrawn ...ok fine , then say their wages of £600 odd will go i...again , fine ,that will clear that...

What they dont specify is how they are paying their payday loan people , what method ??
If ist DD , cancel , NOW , if its SO , the same , if its RCP cancel the card...

This all assumes the OP doesnt owe their bank any money other than the £69.50 ...

If this is all true , why are they being advised to open a new BA

    ?

    Cheers

I think a new account is a good idea because the OP doesn't seem to know how exactly the money is leaving his/her account either. I also wonder if he/she is fully aware what they have or haven't authorised and how much account access they have given to the payday loans companies. It would seem simplest to just start with a clean slate, rather than to find a month from now that something you didn't realise you'd given authority for causes a debit to your account.
