So sorry to hear about your miscarriage- that's very sad.

Well done for all your hard work in reducing your debts- I find stories like yours very encouraging.

Proud to be dealing with my debts
  • Phoned and cancelled my Barclaycard. The Customer Service Advisor couldn't understand why i would want to cancel
HIM: "But we've given you a limit of £7200!"
    ME: "But i don't want a limit of £7200"
HIM: "We can extend or reduce your limit, whatever you want"
ME: "No, just cancel it, thanks"
HIM: "We can give you an interest rate of 10.9%"
ME: "But you wouldn't when I asked you to reduce the rate a couple of months ago"
HIM: "Your account had different circumstances then"

Hmmm...yeah, you mean it had a few thousand pounds on it and Mr Barclays probably thought it was there to stay...I did tell the customer service person at the time that I would pay it off and close the card...and I have!

Is only a small ray of light in an otherwise gloomy day though. Cannot shake off the feeling of misery today at all :(
  • Thanks all. Lol..at verbatim and Mrs Sparkle. Without turning this into a mutual appreciation society you two are both doing excellently at reducing your debts too!

Chocaholic - Omigod u r an inspiration to me so pls don't feel disheartened. Look how much debt you've managed to shift since August - nearly 7k if I've read it right.

I'm doing a similar thread for myself because I too have done all the quick fixes I can think of (I too am a chocaholic - but that's beside the point).

Seeing it in black and white has really helped me too. This site is also a godsend and the support and advice I've had here is worth more than all of my debt!!

Seeing as I've done all the quick fixes I can without b*gg*r*ng up my credit rating any more than it already is, I thought I'd now move on to:
    - Selling anything and everything (am also taking part in the Money
    for Nothing Challenge)
    - Ebaying and ebaying
    - Matched betting (initially makes your head spin while you are
getting your head round it but then it sinks in)

and then any money that I can lay my hands on I'm throwing at the debt with the highest interest.

I'm also posting on the 'what have you spent today thread' on this board - sometimes in the morning with what I intend to spend and then again at night with the actual amount. It makes you think when you are out and about and quite proud when you manage to resist.

I'm sorry if any of this has already been said but I'm soooo tired (was on this site until gone midnight last night!!).

Hope some of its of use,

    Luv Jxxx

PS - I've also given myself a weekly budget and always leave plastic at home.
