I just got a flyer through the door for Bargain Booze - 2 x cases 15 cans (Stella, Carlsberg, etc) for £16, which I thought was a pretty good deal. I agree about the booze - I'd much rather my partner had a couple of cans at home than down the pub every night, so we always stock up when there's good offers.
Thats what we do Katy. Tesco had 15 cans Carling for £8 this week so we bought 5 boxes. They will last us 2.5 weeks.Trying to become debt free but this site makes me spend a fortune!!!

I personally dont think 25 cans a week is a lot.
Half a pint of normal strength beer/large is 1 unit. Not sure what size cans but if each one has one unit in it he is drinking over the recommended limits every week.

A very important staple - American style jelly beans from Aldi - only £4 per kilo (79p for 200g bag) as opposed to £16 (and more) for the name brand.0

donnaessex, sorry I can't help with your shopping but I just wanted to say congratulations on your restrained reply to the comments on your family's habits. Good luck with your shopping, if you have 2 toddlers and a full time job and you're still prepared to trail round 4 stores every week you must be doing something right.0

Yes it is a lot seeing as a men are not suppose to drink more than 21 units a week. And have a few day off from drinking.

I may be wrong, but wasn't there something in the news a while ago about the units, and the number you should drink, just being figures plucked from thin air?
Same with eating "five a day", just a figure plucked out of thin air, because telling people something is better than telling them nothing.
Everybody is different, so saying you should eat X amount of fruit and veg, or drinking no more than X alcohol would be like saying all men should wear size 8 shoes, and women should wear a bra no larger than 36C.0 -

I personally dont think 25 cans a week is a lot. If a bloke goes down the pub, he can easily sink 8 pints at £2.50 each in one night.
I'm sorry for my reply,
it wasn't meant to cause upset.
Having myself given up drinking, 1 year, i feel healthier, also my family now has so much more disposable income to spend on us all.
Sorry again.

Yeah what ever :rotfl:
The op and her partner can do what they like and so can everyone else.
it is up to everyone to make there own choices on limits. But drinking large amounts of alcohol is not good for the body.
Just like we know that smoking is good for you and does not increase the chances of cancer?
I have just friend who smoked liked a train and drank like a fish just die from cancer. But of course we all know that the drinking excessive amounts day in day and smoking was not what caused the cancer (where is the rolling eye smilie)

No problem Graham - written word is sometimes misinterpreted! I guess my trigger was the "wouldnt the money be better spent feeding the family". If my family wasnt eating well, I can assure you that we know where our priorities lie.Trying to become debt free but this site makes me spend a fortune!!!
