Sounds a good idea Buffy, it was what I did and by overpaying I will finish paying the loan 1 year early. If you set up online as well you can overpay small amounts as well whenever you have them.

Oh no Claire, hope everything is ok with Ben's friend - what a worry for her family.

Can anyone help me with a washing problem I have please? WHen I wash dark clothes, they come out with a residue of washing powder on them and I am not sure why.

It might be that I am putting too much washing powder in the machine, but I only put in half what they tell you to (based on a thread I read on here once) or I wonder if i am putting too much washing in the machine. Does anyone know?

Tenmah, try using a liquid soap. You do only need a small amount and I have found that it helps if you dilute the soap before adding to the drawer, or even waiting until the water is going through the drawer and pouring it in then.
Also, wash darks inside out, it helps to keep the colour.

As we are now encouraged to wash at lower temps, sometimes the soap doesn't dissolve properly and can cause marks.

What soap are you using at present?

I might not reply until later, as I'm off to work, at a launderette :D
