Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Friday 13th August 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine.
Morning all
We have a mix of blue sky & black clouds here today, so the washing is on the maiden, it was only a half load so not too bad.
Hubby's had his cooked breakfast & been dropped at the station.
I shall have tea & toast in a while, once I'm awake, lol.
Back to the paperwork sorting later & I need to buy a jar of coffee as hubby took the last one to work. Sausages for tea tonight, probably with egg & chips.
Csarina, hugs, hope the dizzys improve soon.
Hugs to PP, MSD, Jayward & all others missing in action.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester & everyone else
Grey & raining here again, so washing will have to go on airer or in TD.
Had a 'phone call from DS yesterday, they all arrived safe in France with GF & her family, says place & family they're staying with really nice. Hope proposed BA air strike doesn't affect them when they return!
Off into town today, starting to buy a few little things for Christmas/winter stores & get something for tea.
We're going to move the baby into the little room to share with her brother (3 yrs), as a stepping stone for when DS (18 yrs) moves into that room & the 2 littlies go into the big back room. DS always refused to go into little room, but has now changed his mind - his 'price' is a new bed & a small, flat screen TV; the former he does need, the latter less so, but I think we can manage it. At lease then DH & I can have our room to ourselves again after a total of nearly 3 1/2 years! :rotfl::T
Got to stock up at butcher's today as he's going to be closed for 2 weeks cos he's going on holiday.
Off to put kettle on, so have good starts to the day, everyone, & will see you later.

Morning Hester, and all to follow,
:bdaycake:Happy Birthday to Elona, have a great day xx
Looks a bit overcast here today, although it might brighten up later. DD came home in the end last night, so a goods nighs rest here, she is always shattered after a sleepover, not a lot of sleep goes on I feel.
Off to work today, but at least its friday :T, chilli and rice for tea tonight, I will just have the chilli, and maybe some salad, dd will have a veggie chilli.
Need to do a wash tonight, will put it on the airer overnight, tomorrow we will hopefully be laying the wood floor in the spare room.
DD's jobs for today will be to empty and reload the dw, and hoover downstairs, she will probably be off out with my sister later on today, sis does not work fridays, the pair of them are very close, sis never had children of her own, and loves my dd dearly.
Jackie O have a great time with your lovely family, crumbs and all
Csarina poor OH, I do hope he continues to improve.
Better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning Hardup Hester, Cheapskate, Redruby & everyone else to follow!
Falady, my older 2 are 10 & 8 so they don't need so much of a routine. nannie will sort them out! DH is leaving them there. He's got work. She's had them for a week in August for the last 3 or 4 years. They love it. Baby is only 16 months. Maybe in about 2 years he can go as well
(((CSarina)))) xxx
TopsyTurphy, I'm in Essex. not sure where you'll be. but if you need anything, let me know. Good luck!
Well today need to buy niece a birthday card. Don't need much from the shops. I'll be mainly packing for the children to stay a week with my MiL. I shall be gutting their bedrooms while they're away!
Only the baby up atm. Wonder how long till another gets up!
DH got back last night, but he's gone to work now.
Another coffee I think & then I'll get on with the day. Washing will hang to hang indoors.
(((hugs))) to all in need. Have a good day all

Good Morning All! Wore my jacket on dog walk earlier as I was actually cold! Grey here - yesterday's washing still on airers in the conservatory, think it will stay there until it's dry now.
Need to get on with DGD's dress as I want her to have it on Sunday when hopefully DS will be seeing her. He waited all day to be discharged from hospital yesterday (delay in drugs being brought across from the pharmacy) and at 8.30pm decided he would stay an extra night as it was getting too late to get across London and up here. Hopefully he'll be up this morning as I'm sure they'll kick him out early now!
My list of jobs to be done before we go away has had two items crossed off - and four added! Am a bit concerned about the groundworkers' possible strike - we go away early next Tuesday which os about as early as they can strike I think, and are due back on the Tuesday following the bank holiday. Fingers crossed here...
Right, off to get the sewing machine set up..
Have a great Friday (ignore the date!). Take care!Resolution:

Happy Birthday Elona :bdaycake:Hope you have a great day x
Another grey damp start today - I was going to pop down to the library but it can wait till Monday.
So today I think that I will start making a few bits ready for the party such as four pizza bases , rolls, cheese straws etc and pop them in the freezer, it will lighten the load on Wednesday and Thursday.
I don't care what the weather is doing they are in the garden, especially after I found out that she has invited 30 and I said 15 was the limit
We have spent a lot of time and money getting the house decorated and we will not be able to afford to do it again in the near future or even later with this scabby government
Well I am off for my brekkie have good days all
((((Hugs)))) to all MIA xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Happy Birthday Elona
It's brightened up here so I've decided to risk putting the washing on the line. I've opened all the upstairs windows & folded the duvets back so the beds get an airing. DW is on & I'm boiling all my teatowels & dishcloths, may not help the stains, but they will be sterilised, I have a bad habit of using my teatowels as ovengloves, lol.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELONA! :bdaycake: Hope you have a good day.
Morning All
Nice and sunny here again today, have stripped DS1s bed, he has gone to work and wont be back here for a good few days so his room will get sorted.
Had a good afternoon yesterday, went to do my shift at the Hospice and came back to a lovely beefy casserole that I had put in the SC earlier. Just had mine with veg but the chuckle brothers (DS1 & 2) had mash with theirs when they came back from fishing (didn't catch anything!). You would have thought that a Marine Biologist would know where the fish are!
Whilst they were out DD and I went for a walk and then a cycle ride which was good, it was such a lovely evening.
Going to the bank today to sort out finances, have lost my widowed parents allowance now DD has left school. That's quite a big hole in the monthly income. Need to find a job with more hours I think as I no longer qualify for Tax Credits either as I work less than 30 hours! I am stuck in my job at the moment as it is permanent (even though only 25 hours) and am worried to move in case of redundancies in the private sector!
Anyway, hope you all have a good day, at least it's Friday!! :j XX0 -

The AA has just OH up to take him to the garage, the car broke down yesterday, again, so we think the cam belt needs changing. So looks like a minimum of £200 car bill. Good job i bought some whoopsied stuff for the month.
