Job Interview, Ill, JSA

So you guys think i don't need to worry then, as long as i phone my advisor on Monday?0

They will only take action if it is a job that they themselves specifically 'matched' you for. As long as you can show that you were 'actively seeking employment' ...they have no more power to penalise you for not attending an interview ( that you arranged yourself ) than they do to penalise you for not applying for that specific job in the first place.
They won't take action for not attending the interview...however, bear in mind that when you sign on you are declaring that you were capable and fit to work. I would not make too much of the 'I was ill' thing or you may find that in itself bounces back on you.0 -

The job was one that they specifically matched me for, surely they can't take action if you are not well. Like i say, i applied for the job. My advisor knows i did as the application form got sent back to him. I was just unwell when it came to the interview - had i not been, i would've gone!
I can prove that i was actively seeking work while i was ill. I have an email for a job i applied for in that period, and also one they sent back the next day rejecting me!0 -
Yes you should be fine, stop worrying as you will end up ill again! I would not even ring up on Monday. The best thing to do is to write in your Jobsearch book that you applied for the job and that you received an email stating you had not been successful. You're not lying there are you! I have had interviews set up by the Jobcentre, (which I have then attended, by the way), but forgot to enter into my Jobsearch book, yet the advisor at the Jobcentre never even asked me how I had got on, when I saw her again. They see so many people each week, and have so little time to speak to everyone when they go in to sign on, that generally they don't even mention anything about previous discussions. Honestly I have had to ask for more input from 3 different advisors because they just don't want to know. All they want at my Jobcentre (although all may not be the same) is to get you in once a fortnight to sign on, then kick you back out again asap.
Don't make too much of a big thing about this interview, like Schrodingers Cat said, otherwise they may feel they have to do the same and may then consider sanctioning your benefits.
By the way if for any reason I am completely wrong and your Jobcentre staff are really over-zealous and do sanction your benefits then appeal straight away. You are definitely within your rights. Its not as if you weren't still job hunting whilst ill, I know I am unemployed at the moment, but am doing the same as you and using every opportunity to job hunt as I hate not being in work and having to put up with the staff at the Jobcentre not caring. If more of the unemployed in this country looked for work like us then there wouldn't be half as many people stuck on benefits I am sure. Good luck with your job hunt anyway and I hope things work out with the Jobcentre over this problem and stop worrying.:cool:0 -
Thanks for everyone's replies.
I will phone Monday, only because of the fact that the employer had to send a form back to the FJF coordinator and the jobcentre stating who was present at the interview.
The only thing that worries me is that i was up all Wednesday night, and as a result i didn't email the employer until 15.33 to let them know i was ill.The interview was at 10.00.

I think he's trying to copy this in.Hiya dookar,
Thanks for your reply in the thread about the job interview i missed through my tonsillitis. Just wanted to ask you a quick couple of questions (i will copy and paste it into the thread):
1. Will the fact that i'm contacting the job centre after my illness make any difference to whether they stop my JSA or not? As long as i'm declaring the days, it should be alright shouldn't it?. Is it true that if it was a signing on appointment i'd missed, there's 5 working days in which to contact the jobcentre, but missing an interview through illness there's no such timeline? Will this mean there's a chance my benefit could be stopped?
Entirely different, failing to attend the JC is an entitlement question, refusal of employment is not. There is no time limit, but you have good cause so it won't matter. Will the job centre see it as having missed a suitable job opportunity?
Probably but the people who know what the rules are will 'ignore' it. The interview was at 10.00am and i didn't email the employer to let them know i was ill until 15.33. I was up all Wednesday night, so didn't get much sleep with it. So wasn't awake in time to email them at 10.00. Could this mean my benefit will be stopped?
No, timing does not matter. From what you have said there is no way the law would support a sanction.. Also is it true that if it was an interview i'd missed myself through illness the jobcentre wouldn't take action. But with it being a job they referred me too, they will?
I don't understand this bit. For refusal of employent, they can't take action unless they have notified you of the job0 -
Thanks dookar. Sorry, i'm not the best with technology.
So basically as long as i phone them tomorrow and let them know the 3 days i was ill, i should be ok?
So because i was ill it isn't classed as refusal of employment?
That bit where you said they would probably see it as having missed an employment opportunity, but the people who know the 'rules' will ignore it. My advisor should know the rules shouldn't he?0
