Job Interview, Ill, JSA

Hi everyone,
I've been ill for 2 and a half days with tonsillitis.
I am fully recovered now. I was still applying to jobs while i was ill. However i got an email from an employer inviting me to an interview - due to the tonsilitis i emailed the employer to let them know i was ill and asked if they could reschedule. However, they wanted to carry the interviews out on Tuesday and have since filled the position. But they were very nice about it, wished me look with my jobsearch etc... and even said they hope i am better soon.
I have interviews tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday so hopefully something good will come of them.
However, i decided to come on here for advice. Will i be sanctioned for not attending that interview on Tuesday? I don't know whether the employer contacts the job centre or not, they didn't say they will or anyting just said to get better soon and good luck with my job-search.

Was the vacancy found by the JCP, or did you find it independently?Gone ... or have I?0
-
Think i know what the answer will be then. It was one i applied for via the JCP - an FJF vacancy.0
-
In that case you need to tell them, but also provide evidence that you were jobseeking whilst you were unwell.
Have you had any other periods of illness whilst signing?Gone ... or have I?0 -
I've got an email confirming an application i sent off on Tuesday and also a rejection email from the same place today.
Also posted my CV off to two places, but don't have any record of posting. Just wrote down in the jobsearch log the date i posted it etc... and the place i've posted it too.
Now you're racking my brains. If i have it was probs like last January, and only 2 days or something. I'm not actually ill that much.
When do i tell them? Next time i sign on with my adviser?0 -
January 09?
Don't worry, you won't be sanctioned (or at least any sanction would not be correct)0 -
Yep dookar, when i say the last time i can remember being ill was January 09 - i normally have a very good immune system.
So to get tonsillitis, i was gutted to say the least. I wouldn't have performed very well in the interview anyway - felt right run-down with it. But i took the laptop and some newspapers to bed and applied for stuff in there - damn thing wasn't gonna stop my job-hunt!0 -
Would it be best if i phoned my adviser up on Monday?
I'm gonna be worrying all weekend now. Apparently the FJF coordinator and the job centre sent the employer a form to fill in and they had to put down whose application they received and who was present at interview.
Obviously had i not been ill, i would've gone to the interview. I was ill for 2/3 days - i still searched online for jobs on the laptop in bed, and applied for 2 that i got given on Monday. I just couldn't go to the interview.
I worry about everything. I didn't visit the doctor, i just took some ibuprofen, soothers and paracetomol from the chemist.0 -
Don't worry. You were unwell for the first time in this rolling twelve months. So you will be treated as capable, therefore as available and therefore as actively seeking.0
-
Thanks dookar. Does the fact that i didn't actually phone them while i was ill make any difference? Or will it be fine if i just phone up on Monday and explain?
They won't see it as refusing employment will they? I didn't refuse it, i applied for it, but was unwell on the interview day.
Should i print the email out for the job i applied for while i was ill, and the rejection email i got back from them?0 -
Just incase there's anyone else in a similar situation in the future, dookar sent me this:
Just call them or go in and say you were ill for 3 days, they'll give yo a form to fill out and that should be the end of it. You'll be excused from all availabiility/actively seeking requirements for the duration of the illness0
