Phones 4 u - Sold Wrong Tariff
Hi, I applied for the HTC Desire on Orange through Phones 4 u. Its 300 anytime mins, unlimited texts and 500mb internet. Phones 4 u advertised it as £25.00 a month on their website, i followed all the links up until payment and the whole time it was quoting just £25.00 a month to pay. As soon as i purchased it, the confirmation e-mail says the tariff is £30.00 a month. Unfortuantely it was quite small in the email and i didnt realise untill my first phone bill. What can i do..?i have no hard evidence eg. screen shots that the website was selling at £25.00 and the confirmation says £30.00 but there is no way thats what they were offering on their web page when i purchased. Infact the £30.00 for the dolphin 300 is just the standard offer from orange...i expected going through phones 4 u who i know buy so many mins/texts etc off of suppliers in bulk then sell them off in packages thus allowing them to offer better deals i.e £25.00 a month instead of £30.00. What options do I have?? I have sent an e-mail to phones4 but no response, the 14 day cooling period has already passed because i didnt realise the problem until the first bill. Is this something I could take to offcom because it is such a blatent case of miss selling. They have deceived me now I am stuck with an overpriced contract.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Guys.

Not sure what you can do here - no evidence, and it's a bit late in the game. Have you called their customer relations team to discuss?0

Is it possible that the £25 wasnt including vat? Ive been stung by that before with mobile contracts.0

VAT has to be show unless its a business transaction, can you try the same order process again taking screenshots for proof - I have done the same in the past to prove corporate incompetence = quick apology & correction. If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:

Dolphin 300 is either £30 for 18 month contract (but reduced to £25 on Phones4u website as part of the Value Tariff - http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_contract_details.asp?ItemKey=386736&NetKey=4, also available direct from Orange) or £25 for the 24 month contract, therefore perhaps it hasn't processed correctly?

don't call their 0844 number for customer services at 50p a minute - 01782676901 gets you direct to the complaints department. I know. I'm calling it rather a lot at the moment.0

I am so worried about this. I took out a contract with phones 4 u. and when i looked at the email, i saw they they were not charging me the discounted price. i have basically taken screen shots of the tariff i took out, and contacted customer services and they said no, its fine.. you are on the discounted rate. will go mental if this doesnt happen.
are you sure it wasnt a retention deal you had?0 -
What does it say on your contract you got sent with the phone. I too purchased the same deal last week. Although it says £30 on my email, it does say £25 on my contract.
I rang to enquire about another issue earlier and whilst I was on the phone the friendly girl said not to be worried if I get charged £30 a month the first time. I didn't ask anything about it, because it didn't cross my mind until I read this post on the forum.0 -
LOOOOOOL
Phones4u are not clear in what they say at all. I took one of these deals for 25 quid 18 months. I knew what was going on as I had worked for a mobile retailer previously. They gave me the 35 quid tariff in order to give me the right amount of mins as they advertise. Then what they do is set up like a monthly credit of £10 (In your case £5). Then first month came at 35 but then month 2 I was credited 2 lots of 10 pounds.
so I believe its the same story for you, and that they have set up monthly payments of five quid. So it hasn't applied to your first bill but should defiantly do so in the next bill. So you will find out in your next bill. I would suggest you give them a quick call on there CS number. Go to saynoto0870 in order to get a landline or a free line and give them a call. Do not call on the 0870. It costs a arm and a leg!
BTW online phones4u is brilliant. Its the retail stores you should worry about. Anything brought from phones4u can be sorted out by calling there headoffice who are brilliant.
Hope this helps0 -
Thank you. I was told this was the case by the email team.. that i would be credited on the second month. i was just slightly worried i would have to send something in.
I am being sent this phone today so i want to make sure this is all sorted before the 7 day sendback period is up.0 -
