If you know of a scrounger who is committing benefit fraud - report them! If you don't know if they are committing fraud or not, then there's probably a whole lot more you don't know about them. You seem to have a very narrow view on anybody in receipt of benefits, yet you are in the very position yourself of looking for them so that you can stay in the same area as your friends!
Sometimes a low opinion of others, and finding fault in others is often a sign of trying to cover your own faults. Instead of being negative and finding blame with everybody else that you can't get 'what you want' (ie not what you NEED as you have parents who will give you a home), try finding something positive. You'll feel so much better about yourself and your surroundings if you can look at things positively.
You did read the bit I wrote saying that NOT all people on benefits are on the take right? jeez.
I just hate the fact that I am getting priced out of the area I lived all my life whilst others seem to get away with it. I am at least trying to do some constructive. The system is wrong, personally I hope the new government really does go to town on all the people on benefits and we shall see what we shall see!0 -

Already been down that route, nothing going!
Anyway, I think it is time for me to accept the situation and try and get on with things.0 -

If your friends are as close as you say they are then surely one of them would put themselves out to put a roof over your head even if it was tempory.
Have you told your parents how you feel?
Can you not take on the house your living in at the moment?0 -
I wrote a long reply to this thread about being a 30something and time to live in the real world.
I deleted it and went back and recced all dmgs comments as its the best advice to OP.

Hi
If the place your parents are moving to is the pits, would you be better off moving to the nearest large town near your friends, where housing may be cheaper and transport more available so you can still see your friends and live independently.
You need to contact your local council to see if they will do any sort of deposit support since your folks are moving.
And look at www.entitledto.com to see if you would get any HB or CT support. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
