I got back from traveling minus £60 in bank account,
You are indeed one lucky fella.
Most 32 yr olds are too busy working to pay a mortgage and bills to go around the world travelling.
You do sound a little bit spoilt btw, welcome to the real world where most of us work and save up to pay for 2 weeks in the sun every year.Be happy, it's the greatest wealth0 -
It is not like I have any options is it!
As for being childish, I think that is hardly fair! I got back from traveling minus £60 in bank account, I managed to build a website and worked my nuts off to get some freelance work in which is at least paying me something rather than just sitting around in the dole, I am trying to grow that amount of work upwards but it is not easy. There are numerous social houses around but they are all given over to people with kids. There seems to be no help for single people in this respect despite my situation being the same. I am lucky to have my parents as a backstop but I hate the fact that I am now forced to give up everything I live for.
As far as I can tell, single people are ALOT more mobile than families with children. You don't have anybody to worry about keeping in steady education etc., you have no ties to the community in terms of employment - and if you left it till you only had a debit of £60 in your bank account until you returned, then you should've maybe thought ahead and realised that when you got back here you would need money. However, you made your choices, and now unfortunately you have to live with the consequences. My 18 yr old was given the choice to go travelling this year - but instead has chosen to work his butt off all summer so that he has some extra money to start university.
As for your comment further up the boards about single mums and opening their legs - you lost any support from me right there with that comment. Aren't you just the same? Made a choice to give up work, go travelling, come home with no money and expecting the state to support you? Enjoy your new home and the pub you wouldn't be caught dead in!0 -

After being made redundant twice last year I don't think it was unreasonable to take a bit of time out, particularly given how bad the jobs market was in my sector. I saved bloody hard for the money I used on that trip. I would dearly love to be able to get a mortage and afford a house.0 -

Money which would come in extremely handy to you while not working and needing to support yourself!0 -

I did NOT ever give-up work, I was made redundant twice. The money I used to go traveling was my own savings and when I got back I made myself some work rather than expecting someone to give me a job!0 -

To be honest, that money would not have lasted any quicker here or there so I would have been in the same situation in all likelihood. The fact I took a bit of time out (just under 4 months) to take a break from what was a very bad year is not really relevant. It is the fact that I could do with a little help finding some accommodation.0 -

But now you are on here looking for assistance, and stating things such as single mum's opening their legs get everything for free whereas you don't........not that all single mum are that way inclined whatsoever (some men are just pure idiots and you don't realise till after a kid or two you know!) yet you are wanting exactly the same as them! Pot....Kettle....Black.....0
