Yes, screw them good on tripadvisor."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0

I think it is a bit cheeky demanding a full refund after the event.
Maybe if you had kicked up a stink at the time but stayed "under protest" due to time constraints, I think you would have had a stronger case.
I think a suitable review of the place is enough. £75 isn't the earth in the context of decent hotels
BUT.... we wanna see the pictures!!!0 -
I would post an accurate review on trip advisor and make sure you put the photos on too! Most people do review hotels before staying in them, so a review will no doubt do them more than £75 harm!
Keep to the facts in the review though, and try not to over-exaggerate! The photos will speak for themselves!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

I agree with the others - write an honest review with photos!
Several years ago I booked a hotel in London for one night (had an early morning interview to attend). I specifically booked non smoking and when I entered my room there was a literally a mist of smoke. It stank AND the windows would not even open! When I complained I was basically told (by the manager), "tough - that's the only room we have left" I persisted to complain in a calm manner at the reception desk (in front of other customers) and a non-smoking room 'magically' became available.
The new room didn't have a haze of smoke however the window only opened approximately 1cm and the water from the sink was constantly dangerously hot (no cold water!). I could not therefore use the sink. The general cleanliness was not up to standard either. It was late, I had an interview to attend early the next morning, so I lived with it.
When I got home I wrote an honest account of my experience on "laterooms.com" and a couple of days later, I got an email from late rooms to say they had investigated my complaint, found the hotel wholly at fault, and, as such, removed them from their listings! I have no doubt this would have had a significant impact on the hotels business so I was delighted!"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" I always complain if I get a room with even a whiff of smoke. I either get moved or refunded.0 -

Agreed. Smoke (particularly stale smoke) is one of my pet hates - totally disgusting!"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -

I was not wanting anything other than to register my displeasure of the room, however once the manager began to correspond with lies and a tone which was dismissive and quite aggressive, i then felt i had to respond in kind.0 -

We live in a little country village and went to stay on a small working farm/B&B in Cornwall last year, there were 2 other families there. One of them knew my neighbour. :rotfl:0
