That's alright donnie, you just walk on by,  and those that do want help / or to look at the web site can click the link!!

:D and make their own minds up, some people have never been before, and are clearly not as lucky as you, (or me) for that matter as clearly you have been able to visit many times, like I have, and have my own houses out there.

(and before you come back at me and tell me frang cannot own houses out there, yes they can (before the law changed), now you can only own a condo out there, you can only own a house if you have a company out there now.)

I'm not sure why the mini rant..

I was simply correcting your statement
If you get to Pattaya, there are several island ferries daily to various places, you just turn up, get a ticket from the Kiosk, get on the ferry and off you go.
    .

Of course, the boats go to only one island; Koh Larn, a popular daytime destination for tour groups.
    So your statement could mislead
people who have never been before
into believing that they could travel to 'various places' by boat from the Bali Hai Pier.
Stranger still, why would you even mention Pattaya? It's hardly the most attractive place in Thailand. So to lure them there with misleading information is even more questionable.
I'm not sure why you "having houses there" is relevant. Are you wanting to advertise them here for rent or sale? In Pattaya maybe? :D

    What is a 'frang'? :rotfl:

I'm only teasing you, so don't come back too angry. :)

Hah - sadly they also have Tesco!

    there is no escape

Thats Tesco Lotus, and its controlled by a Thai company (Ek-Chai Distribution System Co Ltd) and knowing the Thai way most likely to remain so thank goodness. There is also the Carrefour chain.
Thailand have already raised concerns over the spread of super/hypermarkets so hopefully they will keep them in check, there would be to much to loose with local producers and sellers if these places got a hold out there.

Carrefour are doing a runner from that region. Perhaps WalMart will step in.

I go every year, I flew into BKK 2 days after the 'sit in' 2 years ago, the place was spotless, no damage, no protesters.............

IMO the airport is fine, and from there you can fly to several of the islands. And remember BKK airport is no where near Bangkok itself.....it is a bus or taxi ride for about 30mins or more depending on the traffic!

Do not go into central Bangkok, (but then Bangkok itself is a sprawling mass of area) also be aware some of the areas are still on night time curfew, but it does depend on where you go, and one night the curfew can be on, the next night it isn't, there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when it is or not as the case may be....if you do go, my advise is NOT to wear a yellow or red shirt / t shirt / polo type shirt!

    .

Here is the link for the new Airport to Bangkok city train which starts running on 23rd August. No waiting in traffic any more :j

Can i just point out that the train was running in June, i was there and on it for free.

It was a reduced timetable but its actually been running a few months already.

To be fair though, the buses from the airport/city run regularly and are cheap anyway.

But you still need to make your way to the Transportation Centre. The train is in the airport.

15 baht for the trip to Phaya Thai... nice. :)

The coach leaves from gate 8 (iirc) and is right below arrivals.
It's the bus that leaves from the Transportation terminal.

But you wrote about the bus, in post #37. This is the first mention of a coach. Are you referring to the Airport Express bus for 150 baht?

Yeah, it's my fault. I've been in India and SE Asia since June and the word 'coach' is non existent and doesn't exist. It is bus (or Bas) for everything; just with different classes like local, VIP etc

So yeah the express 'coach' is what i actually meant.
