Help! Bad throat and possible telephone interview!

Unfortunately, I think you may have missed your chance with this job. My manager has been doing phone interviews this week. She tried to ring one applicant at the arranged time and there was no answer. She tried a few more times but still no answer. My manager has informed the recruitment company that we are not intested in arranging another interview!
If it happens in the future, it would probably be wise to answer the call, explain the situation, and re-arrange the interview.0 -
Its not an interview i had scheduled so i was unaware the call was coming i emailed my cv and received one back saying should you make it to the next stage you will be contacted within the next 7 working days.
Bairn7 ignoring judgemental people who only want to voice negativity has never been my strong point, thanks very much - i thought i was being out of order for some reason lol

Hi,
Just wanted to say that I hope the call goes well.
I'm not sure why some people seem to have issues with you being a bit worried about it, it's a genuine concern and I assumed from your post that you will still be contacting them one way or another. Some of the replies seem plain angry and it does make me think some people need to look at having a rational reaction to things...
Best of luckStill trying to find my way around the forum...0 -

You're obviously not an employer, are you?
Because despite the high levels of unemployment being reported, most employers I know (and I hire people) constantly complain that there is no sense of urgency among potential recruits. Vacancies are going unfilled because noone can be bothered to apply or want special favours.
The OP's post is completely symptomatic of that.
She has deliberately chosen to ignore several posts on this thread in which people have said she has missed the boat, preferring instead to bask in the glow of people who are giving her warm and fuzzy advice on which bloody throat lozenges to use.
Yes, those people are being very nice, but they are killing by kindness. Meanwhile, the employer has waited 24hours for a return call and has probably moved on.0 -

My experience of phone interviews could not be more different from the one you describe. The fact that we have all had different experiences doesn't make one person advice more valid than another's. Would you prefer the OP to just accept that the boat has passed or keep trying? It's not the OP's fault that she was ill (and it's hardly asking a special favour). Some of the posts that appeared earlier in the thread would be enough to put some people off calling the company back at all!!! It's no wonder people just give up all hope and end up on benefits!
I thought the purpose of this forum was to offer encouragement and support not to crush any hope that people might have.
Personally I wouldn't want to work for a company that isn't even prepared to arrange a date/time for a phone interview or wait just 1 day for me to call back. It doesn't give a good first impression.
1) because they can't be very selective if they only go for the first person they speak to (doesn't speak much about the quality)
2) because I would doubt they care much about the quality of their employees work-life balance0 -

I've recently become unemployed, and am not feeling any sense of urgency about applying for jobs. I'm going to enjoy a bit of time off first, during which I will focus on applying for my 'ideal job', before I begin a more intensive 'everything and anything' jobhunt.
What is the problem with people taking a more relaxed approach, as long as they find a job eventually? I really can't understand why you are so irate about people's different life choices and opinions. Is it due to the particular industry/field you hire people to work in? Are you struggling to recruit suitable staff?
To the OP, I'd also add that (in my experience,) the worst thing you could do is to say that you are, or have been, ill. Illness is the pariah of many workplaces these days. Far better to have been away or unavailable for a day or two.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

That makes a lot of sense. Good luck with your job hunt and I hope you do get your ideal job.0 -
People get ill all the time so why is it a problem jay0

Most places have become increasingly fussy about sickness records, and all the applications I've completed over the last few years, have asked for 'number of days off work sick in the last year'.
For example, many NHS Trusts conduct sickness review interviews if you hit 4% or more (about 8 days in one year), and that includes staff working on wards, and exposed to infection etc.
The many have been hurt by the actions of a few malingerers, again.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.
