Help! Bad throat and possible telephone interview!

Hi there
I really need help i have had a call which was picked up by the machine for a job i applied for, i let the machine pick it up as my throat is killing me and everytime i speak i end up having a coughing fit which doesn't sound very nice.
My question is i dont want to wait around to call these people back but i know for a fact it is for a telephone interview and i dont want to give them any reason to not invite me to a face to face interview - what would you do in this situation, would you call them back straight away or would you maybe wait a day to allow things to get a bit better.
This job is for a telephone based thing anyway which i think i why i am stressing out as they are obviously going to base things on how you present yourself over the telephone!!!
Help lol xx

Can you drop them an email?0

The only email address i have is the one to apply for whereas they have left me a telephone message with a name and direct number for the person i have to call back.
Thanks

I'd try to do something to sort the bad throat for a while--gargling with salt can be very effective, and antibacterial lozenges can help a lot. Painkillers might help too.
Wearing a warm scarf round your throat helps too, it's not always very comfortable, but worth it to allow you to do the interview.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

Oh for the love of God . . . .
Pick up the damn phone, and call them and apologise for the sound of your voice but you're feeling a bit sick at the moment.
Seriously - do you need advice on something that granular? Some more advice. When you're feeling empty inside and your stomach starts making funny noises, it means you're hungry. Go the fridge, take out food. Eat.0 -
Thanks for the advice jay, i am trying to get rid of the cough before calling them after all in this sort of climate especially if someone turns up to an interview looking messy they wont get the job just the same as if i have a telephone interview and sound like i have a 50 a day habit i will not get a face to face interview let alone get a job.
Mind you people like Bendix probably are unaware of the jobs system at the moment and how you have to prove even more that you deserve a job i was asking the question as i cannot speak without a coughing fit so yes i may have asked a petty question but i want to make a good impression and not be wasting their time with me coughing down the phone.
Fair enough judge me if i say oh i had a telephone interview but i cant be bothered i would rather just be left alone to rake in the benefits - but no i am not saying that i try in life to the best of my abilities but if you want to judge me go ahead, what you think makes no difference to me.
Oh and as for the eat when your hungry it is not that simple my throat is all swollen so therefore only liquids are possible for me - any advice about that one, am sure you want to voice your opinion some more!0 -

Absolutely agree. Just say "I'm sorry, I have a bit of a sore throat" - how difficult can that be? I'm not aware of anyone dropping down dead because they used the phone with a sore throat! :rotfl:0 -

If you want to make a good impression, do you really think it is a good idea to wait days to reply to a prospective employer who took the trouble to call you, just so you don't cough at them on the phone?
Seriously, what are you thinking?
You say I don't understand the job market. I employ many many people, and there are dozens of applicants for every job. If I took the trouble to call you about your application, and you didn't get back in touch with me pretty damn quick, I would go directly to the next person and write you off as not being interested.0 -

No i am not making excuses i want a job but i cant say one word without coughing to the point that i cant breathe what do you suggest then?
Would be a worthless phone call when i can manage one word then about 30 seconds of non stop coughing, surely in that case it would be a waste of time for them the last thing i want to do is waste their time in that case i am going to call them when i can without coughing down the phone and do the normal thing of i am sorry i didn't call you back straight away this is why.
If that wouldn't be good enough to you then i would hate to be one of your employees.
If it were the case that my partner was here he could have made my excuses and arranged for me to call them back.0 -

I suggest you tell them the truth!
Personally, if having a sore throat kept you off the phone (and potentially off of work) that would be all *I* needed to know as an employer.
