  • I got my NI cheque today :j £93 I think it was, whoop!

Will pay that in next week.

I'm getting a bit tetchy about the cc application now, haven't heard anything from them about dh's card and I've been reading some of the cc threads on here and am now worried we'll not get it because we're in o/d most of the time, and due to income to existing credit. Athough this is only the current cc which is why we want the new card, but they'll know that of course won't they?

Anyway I know I should worry as what's going to happen if we don't get it? We'll stay as we are!! Yes we'll be paying interest but what can we do?

I'm sure we'll get a letter sometime next week with a decision, or could it come via email?

IN the grand scheme of things, in relation to what is happening in Japan I really can't complain. I think I may watch some of Comic Relief tonight to try and regain perspective on life, a bit of money worry is nothing compared to some things in life.

Happy friday to anyone reading :)

Well done on th NI cheque, any plans for it or will it go to debt.
Dont worry too much about the cc like you say you can dela with it either way, maybe if your still paying interest it will make you more determind to get rid of it i know it does with mine.
    Have a good weekend
    MARCH 2016 DEBT £25750/ £25035
EST DFD JAN 2021 (that needs to change)
NOW JAN 2019 (that still needs to change)
  • Not sure yet about the NI chq, might pay off some of the Next account with it or maybe half to Next half kept in the o/d. Will decide over the weekend.

You're right about the cc application. What will be will be:)

I have now bought ds all I will buy him for his bday. All from ebay out of necessity of the items required rather than cost, although this is a bonus. DS has asked for certain toys which can't be bought in shops anymore <<sigh>> I started looking early enough to avoid panic bidding. I learnt the hard way how to bid on ebay. It's like playing poker:rotfl: and a friend recommend a great sniper site which means I can bid at the last mintue no matter what time the auctions finish.

Whilst searching for ds' presents I also bought him next year's winter coat for school, was looking for a t-shirt and normally look at a sellers other items and spotted a lovely coat which I won for £7 (incl postage). It arrived today and it looks new. FAB!

I've also bought dd's coat in the sale in Asda for £7.50. bargaintastic:rotfl::rotfl:
  • hmmm I still haven't heard from the card I applied for for dh, I'm sure it said we'd hear in 5-7 days, which it has been now. Perhaps it said 7-10 working days <<hopefull>>

Would it be unsual for them to decline but not write and said it has been declined?

I've got my Tesco card through. I can BT onto that but the limit is only £750 so not much help really! Going to keep that as a back up plan only but purchases are 0% for 13 months so it could come in handy.

I've planted some seeds to try and grow a few plants and vegetables and to my amazement they're actually growing:eek: I'm sure i'll rectify that at some point:rotfl:

I have also started a diet and have come up with a new gym routine to try and enable me to stick to it, both have worked for the first week, which is a good start! I think i've lost 2lbs, won't change much but clothes feel more comfortable so that's all good. I'm hoping to lose at least 1 stone before the end of april. I have a wedding to go to on the 30th and I'd like to wear something I bought from ebay but is currently too small:o If I lose a stone then it should fit! It should also mean I can fit into a few things I haven't worn in a while as they're too small, which means I won't feel the need for new clothes as it'll feel like i'm wearing new clothes!

Well done with the diet thats a great start, are you doing it on your own just cutting back or have you joined SW/WW. The girls at work go to WW and everyday they sit and eat WW snacks and cakes all day then wonder why they keep putting on LOL.

  • I'm just doing my own really. I've been to ww before but only seemed to go along, pay them £5 and get weighed!! I have all the books so I can do it myself, but i'm not counting points at the moment, just trying to cut out rubbish and eat better.

I weighed this morning and it was -2lbs:j and I didn't eat very healthy dinners last weeks either so that's good. Plus it's the time of the month this week so I would normally bloat out:D

Back to the DFWing, I have just had a text saying the cc has been approved for dh:j THe limit is only £2,500 so not quite as high as i'd like but that means I can switch some over to 0% which is a start. Pay off minimum on that a month and I will then be paying off more on the interest bearing one. It'll be nice for that card to be no-where near the limit for a change! Although actually I will reduce the limit so that won't really be true will it:rotfl:

    YAY!!

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • I'm contemplating asking my Nan to loan me the rest of the money to pay off the whole cc. If there was no interest I think we may be able to get rid of it all within a year.

    I'm not sure.

I know she'd hate to think of me struggling if she could help.

I know we can cope with our income as it is, it's just paying the debt off that's hard because of the interes, so i'm not too worried we''ll build it back up IYSWIM. Just need to get rid of it.

    What would you do?

Can't hurt to ask I guess?
  • well, I called. It has made me realise what stupid idiots we have been getting into trouble. Not that it was anything flash we spent money on, just living day to day. But She has said she will loan me the rest of the money and was shocked how much debt there was (I asked for a £4k loan) so glad I didn't mention the other bits. Mortified at getting to the stage where I have to ask but if I ever want to be free of it I need to sort it so that I am paying off the debt not interest. So I have said thank you a million times and will continue to do so. I will write her a letter so I can tell her how grateful I am without blubbing(I always cry!)

am also going to make sure I visit her every couple of weeks, I have been really bad at visiting due to lack of enhusiasm for anything apart from work, debt, my weight, being depressed. 2011 is the year I get back on track with life and start to live the way I want to, not this way, being in the depression, debt, unhealthly lifestyle. It's toxic and IT WILL CHANGE.

I will repay my nan every penny and I will be trying to help her in any way I can(gardening maybe)

I am 32 and need to take control. I lost it somehow along the way and I will get it back.
