If I plug it in, nothing happens, this happened yesterday, just turned off on its own
How can I check if it's the power adapter? The green light comes on the power supply box thing which is attached to the plug, so that bit must be okay? But how can i check the other bit? This is only 2 years old

The battery is dead too, when I was using the battery, it would die within say 20 minutes. Fully charged. Piece of pish.0

Buy or borrow a multimeter and check the DC output from the mains adaptor. Green light doesn't necessarily mean you have an output. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Okay thanks.
Are they expensive to buy? 0 -
As an example, you can get a basic analogue one from Maplins for £5.99
And your battery died within 2 years? Not good, check with Sony. Can you actually charge the battery with the adapter? If a light on the laptop (should there be one) comes on indicating it is charging, then the adapter obv. works! And 20 mins should give you some time to check if it is your laptop itself that's faulty, at least.Friendly greeting!0 -
This happened with my Toshiba laptop a couple of months ago. Toshiba initially thought it was the power cable so sent me out a new one, but when that didn't make any difference it went back to them and it turned out to be motherboard failure. Fortunately it was still under warranty.£400+ in my £2 coin tablet fund0

Thanks guys, I'll run to maplin and get one of those things, no lights come on at all, when I put anything in, I dont think it's still under warranty, which is sucky or maybe it is, *runs to check receipt*0
