I bet you will be up until about 2am watching vids and reading forums, I know I was when I bought my first one a couple of years ago!
Hope not lol i`m up at 4am for work  I have already spent several hours spread over yesterday and today reading and watching the videosI did all this last year and then never actually bought one - main reason being that i couldn`t decide which one to choose
Still leaning towards the AJ but the cheaper one won`t do cannisters as theres no port so its either the more expensive one that comes in a package but is on offer atm or may take another look at the foodsavers.
Postage is quite steep from AJ so will look for a code methinx

Well i`m incredibly peed off now
I`d found the AJ pro with the cannisters new on ebay, £84.95 with free p&p, i was actually on the phone to mum who was going to order it for me in case it was delivered whilst we were away and when i refreshed the page it had gone up to £109.95 :eek::eek:
I`ve emailled the seller to ask if it was a mistake but i suspect that it will stay at that price as this is the time of year when peeps are buying these things. Fingers crossed for a positive reply but i`m not holding my breath.
Boo!

I bought more large luscious red tomatoes than I needed and didn`t want to waste them so put several into the largest AJ vac jar. That was weeks ago and I have been using them this week, they were perfect and very tasty, like off the vine. I did the same with lemons as I wanted to have the ingredients in for when my marrows were ready for marrow and ginger jam, also fresh root ginger which I bagged in portions then vac sealed all in one bag, which I will re-use
I dehydrated potatoes last week and sealed them to keep them fresh and crispy. The cabbage test is very interesting ie one home grown cabbage, sliced and resliced daily for 4 days and still not a brown mark on it and that was only sealed in a normal poly bag after every use0 -

Do you keep your canisters in the fridge Kittie or do they get condensation in there because of the cold?0 -

I kept them in the fridge. I have oatmeal in one in the fridge as it was near its use by date and also grated cheese and they are dry. I put shallots in another as they weren`t quite perfect to air dry. Bulk nuts from costco were portioned and packed out of the fridge. They seem to prolong the life of everything0 -

I think I read somewhere that fruit and veg should be of the best quality when you vac them or they will still deteriorate, is that right?0 -
YES!
I have just done an experiment with a Lidl freezer bag and a tiny zip log bag that I bought to keep spices in.
I cut the plastic zip part off the bag and pulled the two sides apart.
Then I used the side that has two ridges and put that inside the top of the freezer bag, so that it hung over the suction chamber.
It worked!
The little bag of seeds is rock hard.
Off to have another go at a bigger bag.0
