Hi Sessie, wrote a big long response to your shared money question late last night and bloomin accidently deleted the lot! My own fault for trying to be clever and change the smilies i was using for better ones :rotfl:

So basically the general gist of all my waffle last night was....that our money is shared - what's mine is his and vise versa! We decided that it would be too weird going out together and then having to determin who was actually going to pay - far easier to have one pot between us!

Having said this, i don't know of any other couples who also have this kind of arrangement (apart from my parents - even dh's parents have their 'own' money!).

    Very interesting topic though.... :T

No I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, life has just been soooo busy I haven't had time to get on here for ages.

Hopefully will be back in the next couple of days with an update.

Hopefully my FOUR DAY headache will have gone by then!

Blimey! Is it REALLY that long since I posted!!!?

With mum being off her feet, when I haven't been at work I've had both children all day every day to entertain (must have watched The Gruffalo approximately fourteen thousand times ....!!) and with housework and struggling with this winter "down" I get every year, I've been going to bed at about 8 pm every night!!

    Anyhow... update follows....

First a WOOHOO!! :j Got a tax rebate of £100 last week which I wasn't expecting!! Well, that was the good news ... but I need a filling doing as it's starting to hurt when I drink cold drinks so that's £60 of it gone already!

All the documents have gone off to the mortgage peeps for the extension so hopefully that dratted CC will be GONE in a week or two. It was a bit ridiculous quite how much info they wanted but I managed to get it all together eventually so just waiting for the word that the money is being transferred now.

Have been buying lots of little things for the elves to give to the children, actually got a bit TOO carried away and have more than 48 little things (ie; one a day each for each child) so the elves may well arrive next Sunday, 28 November. This will work out better as Mr Sessie will be home that morning and we'll all have time to "find them" together. Mr Sessie STILL knows nothing about it. I did buy one expensive thing to give them "from the elves" and that was a pair of Christmas Disney pyjamas to wear on Christmas Eve... will wait until after tea and their bath and then... say, "Oooh, what's THIS under the christmas tree?". I have two lovely shiny silver boxes with ribbons on (Matalan £5!) and I will put the pyjamas in there, surrounded by tinsel and lametta and a couple of small chocolate santas and a pound shop toy. I'd like the Christmas Eve pyjamas to become a family tradition.

The elves will also be arriving in the same boxes (I just haven't had the time to make a sleigh or train, will have to start this earlier next year!) and will have an advent calendar in and then each evening in December, after tea, they will get another little present. I'm really excited about it, just worried how they'll be once Christmas is over and the elves have "gone back to the North Pole with Santa Claus".

Also slightly worried about where we are going to put all the presents they are bound to get. We have got them quite a bit from ELC - went to choose what to get them a week ago on Sunday but didn't have the cash to buy them. Lucky for us as it turned out!!

A few days later ELC had a 20% off EVERYTHING offer on so I got £165 worth of stuff for about £99!! Only thing was, I THEN went to Toys R Us with the "change"! .... :p

I know my parents and Mr Sessie's parents will go overboard, despite having been told not to ... so this may end up a VERY expensive Christmas as we may be FORCED to buy a new house to hold all their toys!! :rotfl:

Well, am at work now and my lunch break is almost up, I just wanted to post SOMETHING and I know if I leave it until tonight, I'll just end up going to bed again. I really AM still here folks, will prob post more in the next couple of weeks as I'm off work as mum has her knee replacement operation on Tuesday.

I would like to be fully organised and stocked up by no later than Tuesday 21st if possible so we can have a nice few days run-up just playing with the children and watching Xmassy things and doing whatever the elves bring.

I LOVE that!!! I've typed it up and put it on my wall at home, reminds me what Christmas is all about. Thankyou.

Gosh I thought everyone would have forgotten about me, having been gone for so long! Thanks for the nice welcome back!

Anyhow, had a baaaaad night with the twins last night - Girlchild decided that 12.30 am was a VERY good time to shout the words to The Gruffalo at the TOP OF HER VOICE.... and Boychild cried approximately every half hour and shouted at her to shut up. Then SHE cried because HE shouted at her... and so it went on until 5 am when they fell asleep and I had to WAKE them up at 6 am as my dad was coming to take them as Mr Sessie and I are both at work today!!

So, in that time - as I wasn't able to get back to sleep between tantrums - I had chance to think about New Year Resolutions/plans for change for next year/whatever you want to call it as all my big plans that I had when I started this diary seem to have somewhat... drifted ..... not stopped, but the impetus has definitely gone.

Haven't got time to get them all down now (last day at work for 2 weeks, mum has her op tomorrow) but I will edit or maybe add another post to this post later:

    (1) Save 1/11th of cost of this Xmas each month in 2011 is one of the main ones so that by the end of November I have AT LEAST what this year cost to spend on next year. Need to total up what we've spent so far and then keep a tally on the rest of the presents.

    (2) Need to attack my weight - have been kidding myself for a while but passing a mirror the other day was a bit of a shock. This will also help my back problem, which I am really suffering from at the moment.

    (3) Need to be much more pro-active with the decluttering and housework - am managing (mainly) to keep on top of the ironing and keep the main parts of the house tidy (ish! enough for me not to be panicking if someone comes round anyway!) but really need to get an actual list/rota in place for daily tasks. The children are getting quite good at being plonked in front of The Gruffalo (currently must have watched it about eight million times but every time, as soon as the end credits come on, they say, "..again... again..."). That frees up 30 minutes at a time (popping back regularly to check on them) and also come New Year they will have lots of new toys to play with which should keep them occupied so really do need to get this rota down on paper, stuck up in the kitchen and start DOING it.

We have been REALLY skint lately, can't WAIT for this credit card to be paid off and have that extra each month. We have been doing "tide over" shops of £30 and £40 a week - just essentials but need to go and do a "big shop" this weekend as we're pretty much living on odds and ends now. Mind you, prior to being here, a lot of those "odds and ends" would have been thrown away, nowadays they make another three meals! :j

Ack, my break is over - rest assured I WILL be back more regularly now, to set up my Big Plan for 2011...

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I can recite this book word for word, when my son was 3 he was obsessed with it, i feel for you.
  • I live for my Rota's and List's - it's terrible and slightly OCD but they keep me in order!!
