Is the person selling this house a bit short sighted?

You would call that a landmark. Might actually add value :)

I'm just wondering considering the "interesting" paint scheme. At least you wouldn't miss you own house if you were drunk and stumbling home :rotfl:

I think it's great, maybe not my exact colour tastes but I really hate it when these house selling shows come in and make you paint everything white and magnolia. As though buyers have no imagination. I wanted to view some rental properties recently that needed refurbishing (carpets, walls, etc, they weren't dangerous wrecks) but I wasn't allowed incase it put me off. I do actually have an imagination.

Weren't allowed to? Who on earth didn't allow you to? Or where they just not on the market?

Imagination? Most buyers do not have any imagination. Why do you think we are always being told to declutter, declutter and declutter. If most buyers had imagination we would be able to sell our houses as looking "lived in" instead of resembling show homes.

    Not short-sighted, just colour blind.

  • I like it though it would be better to have a different colour in each room rather than the same two colours everywhere. I'd love a house as bright as this, but my boyfriend like things bland :( A bright feature wall is my best hope.

At work I change the computer colour scheme to nice colours and everyone says "how can you look at that all day" but I don't understand how people can look at grey all day. Bright colours cheer me up.

I would immediately think how many sodding coats off neutral paint would it take to cover up that monstrosity, and more importantly would never pick up the phone and arrange a viewing.

The flats are all on the market on the big property search sites but the LA said the LL (It was one LA but don't know if it was multiple LLs) won't allow viewings until the work is done and it hasn't even been started yet. I emphasise again, it is only cosmetic work. These flats are all in one complex.

So I guess they're just there to generate interest in advance. I hope everyone interested like I was doesn't bother re-asking and finds somewhere else.

I don't understand people with no imagination, my current flat and next one were unfurnished when I viewed them, it's not like I can turn around and say. "I need to see it with all my stuff moved in first".
  • We have just bought a new garden workshop. We have painted it bright blue with a purple door. It looks great!

Our newly refitted shower room has been painted that colour called 'greige' (in between grey and beige, mushroom colour really), and white - that looks good too.

Our kitchen has been sunshine yellow for the last decade. I love it.

The house under discussion is a bit too much for me, but it is easy to see past it to the nice house it is otherwise. I too get fed up with magnolia.
