'Have you paid for pornography?' poll discussion

Hmmm large number of prude-y comments on the subject of !!!!!!.
I have paid for !!!!!! in the past, (DVD's etc) but not in recent years with the advent of the internet and the fact that I have my own PC at home without fear of prying eyes seeing my 'favourites'.
It's good to raise he subject as there are SOOOO many sites that have free content that is available to view.
My only suggestion would be making sure you use recommended sites (nothing beats a personally recommendation) and upgrade your virus protection. Oh and also, get yourself a pop-up blocker if you don't have one already!
Happy surfing!:hello: :footie:0 -

But whilst were on the subject of practical help for the non prudes, a few extensions for Firefox users that make dodgy browsing a little safer:
Adblock Plus (of course)
Request Policy
Cookie Safe
Redirect Cleaner
Or even better, use a virtualisation software such as Sandboxie or Returnil (Though I don't like the post 2008 Returnil versions)0 -
So the very scientific poll is currently showing that 61% of people are men?!
Seriously, just like prostitution, !!!!!! is always going to be around. You can't stop it any more than they managed to stop people drinking alcohol in the US during prohibition. You could make the same arguments about illegal drug taking in any country in the world right now, to open another can of worms.
Seems to me you might as well legalise, control and tax - and then if it really is harmful you can spend some of the revenues on clinics and treatment to help people overcome their addictions.0 -
To those berating this poll or saying what's it to do with MoneySaving let me answer.
We are often innundated with people who are caught out when paying for !!!!!! (though that's not how its phrased) - through recurring payment authorities, which can be a nighmare.
I wanted to see whether this was likely to be a cross societal issue.
A huge number of peopel voted, more than a normal poll, and it shows 2/3s of people use/read !!!!!! of which 15% pay for it at some point.
That makes it a substantial consumer transaction.
We won't be doing a 'free !!!!!!' guide but we will certainly now factor this more upfront in our articles such as the recurring payment guide when its next redone.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

If we are not supposed to eat animals, why are they made out of Meat??
Your made of meat, should someone eat you, or would that be encroaching on pornography again...[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
Why would anyone pay when it's available free on the internet on sites like tube8 ?0

Spot on I'd say. MSE isn't here to take a moral stance or high ground, but if there is a sector of society (and not really a tiny fraction either) that could do with help/advice on a subject that is a financial issue... well, you can't get better than MSE for it I'd say
Sure I know there's issues in the "industry" that is behind online prorn just as there is in the "real world" and I have no evidence to back up what I'm about to say (queue finger pointing!) but I'd think that if someone is not "addicted" to it and if the supplier of it is a "decent" one, then online is good for man/woman and a healthy thing versus the real world of !!!!!!.
Good to see the subject being discussed :T
(meanwhile though, I am concerned about some suppliers of internet services, especially the Telco's who are trying to do some "interesting" things with the way the internet works... and that may/may not be to our benefit - see my other post about to be made)0 -
