Best 7 Seater?

  • Grand Voyager.
With the addition of a roofbox, it carried everything we needed for a fortnight's holiday (2 adults and 4 kids). That included a couple of fold down chairs, windbreak and vaccum cleaner (not an upright lol). The twins are young and it also included the double buggy in there too.
All 7 seats are real seats.
Go for the CRD LTD and you'll get great spec and 35MPG. Newer ones have stow and go seats.

The Kia Sedona is another one you may want to look at. The rear seats aren't foldable, like they are in the Zafira, and it's a bit of a fiddle to remove them. But they are proper full-sized seats, and there's a fair bit of space in the cabin. As with all of these, you don't have an awful lot of boot space with the rear seats in place, but there is a fair bit more than the Zafira. Another nice touch is the sliding rear doors, which makes extracting children when in a car park a bit easier.

My friend took this in for an mot... Whatever it was they wanted fixing was 'stuck' (fuel injectors I think!) apparently it's a well known issue with them, and it cost them over £800 to get it back on the road

We've had our galaxy for around 8 years now and had no real problems with it. It has been very comfortable and roomy. We spent forever in our search for the ideal 7 seater and probably tried every one on the market, including the Zafira - rear seats too small. This one has been perfect for us. We bought a roof box for when we went on holiday. If i was making the choice again I would still go for the Galaxy. Unfortunately we will be selling ours soon as it really is too big for us now.

Mazda 5 is an excellent MPV. It can carry seven people and the rearmost five seats fold flat into the floor. Sliding rear side doors. Five-star crash test rating, which is reasurring for a family such as yours.

Also, if you're not that concerned about absolute refinement, the VW Caddy Maxi Life is well worth a look - sensibly priced, honest 7-seater with enough space for 7 AND their luggage. All diesel engines. Huge loadspace seats removed. It was only released in 2008 though, so used ones will hover around the £9k mark right now.

    I would second this......

chrysler is a great choice. we went from a 98 voyager to a 03 plate zafira. the fuel consumption on zafira is good and not so good on the voyager. But the voyager is veru comfy on long journeys.

only reason we dumped voyager was because of a blown head gasket.
zafira is so cheap and nasty in comparison

Chrysler Grand Voyager CRD Limited gets my vote too. Don't crash it though...

I would have a Toyota everytime if finances allowed but the Chrysler (Grand) Voyager is a good compromise. Sliding doors are great. Stops the kids flinging the doors open (or the wind catching the doors) and damaging them or other property!
