  • alison do you know if the Macy's card is valid in all stores ? also can you obtain them from other Macy's stores ?
there's a really nice Macy's store in Danbury Fair Mall and we didn't pay any tax (as it's in Connecticut ??? just over the NY border )...but another discount would have been bliss!!

I don't know if you can get them in other stores I'm afraid, but I used the one I got from Manhattan in the Macy's in Long Island with no problems.

Because I had one, I didn't check to see if other stores gave them out.

You could try asking on www.tripadvisor.com New York forums, someine there should know.

Whoever wants to visit USA do it now.I read in todays DailyMail that they are going to abolish VWP for British citizens soon and you have to apply for visa in US embassy, stand in the que and pay some hectic visa fees.

Not so much an attraction, but use the subway rather than yellow cabs. Yellow cabs are cramped in the back and you get nowhere because it is like London, at a standstill.

The subway is much like the London Underground and is air conditioned.

When does this take effect. That should really screw the US tourist trade from the UK:mad:

There was no date but says from 'next year'. It is in page 47 Daily Mail and too big to reproduce here.

Not as alarming as it sounds-it's connected to the new style biometric passports
US want them in use by Oct 25th & UK can't change passport system in time
The only people affected will be those who's passport runs out on Oct 25th or shortly after before the UK have time to issue the new style passports-they are the ones who will have to go to the US Embassy
If you have an old style passport with plenty of time left on it,the visa waiver rule will still apply

Nope. It is connected with the news that there are 700,000 British pass port was stolen and US authorities do have the inside information and considering to abolish VWP so that a thorough check will be done before issuing visa. This is todays news.

Hi Sunnydo, I only hope you are right but it is not just UK is not yet ready for biometric passport but also all the Euru, Australian and Japan. But they will be allowed on VWP to US. Only Britain is specifically banned.
