First of all I was *not* endorsing the product - it was a 'for instance' type of post.alanrowell wrote: »I've got one and it took a day of research just to get it installed on a PC as it doesn't automatically install into anything above XP SP2
As for the associated Ulead software - it's incompatible with Windows 7, doesn't work on XP netbooks as you can't get the screen resolution high enough and the XP desktop I tried it on is currently getting rebuilt after a little accident when plugging things in & out.
It also doesn't do too well with Moviemaker as 2.9 (Vista, Win 7) doesn't recognise the capture device and 2.1 (XP) does see it, does produce a file but then locks up when it converts it to .avi
So can anyone can suggest another piece of capture software
Looking at it, I can't find the spec on it, but does it claim to be Vista/W7 compatible at all? I can see some customer reviews warning that it does not work with W7, and some warning of BSOD.
Personally I very rarely use Windows, so I'm not best qualified to say, but when I do use it with Vegas for video work I make use of a Canopus ADV-55 over firewire - purely because I'm fussy with audio sync and quality overall.
But would probably have gambled a fiver on this USB stick to give it a whirl? Yes I would because I take the view I would not cry too much if that fiver was wasted and, with Amazon, I could always return it if it went ugly. Try and keep in context what it has cost and that it's not compatible with what you have - and that you can get your money back
