Hi.
Found an old camcorder in the garage loft the other day which has taped vids of the kids at birth etc. I would like to transfer these to DVD via my pc but have no idea. Can someone tell me how to do this and what software i will need etc. I have posted links below to the camera with a lead i found in the case. The camera has two slots, one is for a A/V cable and the other says Mic. I have also posted a pic of my TV Card in the back of my PC for you guys to look at.
Any help is very appreciated.

the mic port on the camera must be for an external mic fitting.
It looks like the yellow a/v should connect to the yellow Comp port on the tv card (can't remember ever seeing a 'comp' port before)
Your fastest bet is to see if your pc has windows movie maker on it.
Open that if there, then you should see a menu on the left. Turn on the camera, click on 'Capture From Video Device', and hopefully the pc should recognise the attached camera, showing you a preview of the video on the right.IT Field Service Engineer, 20 years with screwdriver and hammer

Got a feeling the composite on the PC card is out only. You may be able to make use of the S-Video IN and get away with a composite to S-Video adaptor, but you have to watch out for the cheap ones as they yield a black and white picture. There was a US supplier who offered Composite to S-Video that gave full PAL colour, but I can't find the details and by the time you get into this you may as well get yourself a USB capture device like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/EasyCAP-Audio-Video-Capture-Adapter/dp/B001BWU8US {untested myself, I use Canopus firewire converters}. Alternatively just grab a cheap stand alone DVD recorder and avoid the hassle.0

D'oh.. been so long since I heard of composite!
I agree about the s-video, usually b&w; get the capture device - it's a bargain
I jumped through all those hoops before arriving at the Canopus. S-Video specialist adaptors, USB adaptors which would stutter and produce poor results etc. Machines now are so fast and powerful the USB should be a good solution. I'm tempted to buy one myself at that price.0 -

So the card is a HVR1100? I did not see that in your original post. If it's an input, you are cooking on gas :-)0 -

Not to rain on your parade but - would you be offering to do this for free, or breaking the forum rules and promoting your own service ;-)0
