The theoretical maximum won't speed up peoples websurfing which is limited to around 8Mbps.

24 Mbps if they're lucky enough to be on LLU ADSL 2+, which is significant if choosing between 802.11b and g wireless.

Pretty sure I didn't say that anywhere in my post, nor infer?;)

Pretty sure I didn't accuse you of that ..;)

Just threw a fact into the melting pot to help the OP, as wireless can get pretty confusing, especially when talking about data rates. Most people don't use wireless to transfer from PC a to b, but just for broadband, so jumping on the speed bandwagon can be a waste of money for many people. (for the foreseeable future)

You posted the link and it was affilate link no one made you do it

You dont even remove the link so every right to be even more supicious as you put it, perhaps you were trying to help yourself, who knows.

Youcan help people by not posting a refferal link anyhow, even if you amde a msitake you dont remove the affilate links we we have no where of knowing whether you gain or not, only that the post you made was against the rules regarding affilate links.

Perhaps you could remove them. Thanks

    Suspicious aren't you?

I merely googled the product and that was the hit I got on it, via froogle.

    Apologies for being helpful.

This is turning into a very picky thread

I'm on 8, and am lucky if I get a 10th of that speed, so even 11Mbps b is fine for me, and the majority of the uk currently. But I was mentioning it in the context of the G/N/Pre-N debate, not b.

  • My apologies bertyR, wasn't meaning to be picky , just covering the bases on the outside chance that the OP may be one of the lucky few on ADSL 2+, so his choice of wireless protocol would be important.

If I were being really picky I'd have said that the theoretical max for ADSLMax is 7.15 Mbps but fortunately I'm not a pedant. ;):D :rotfl:

So sorry to have made you so mad by posting an 'affiliate' link pal.

As far as I was concerned when I posted it, no one bar the OP would benefit from the link. If you were to type 'Netgear DG834PN free', the 'free' part being included to ensure the free usb adaptor was included, into Google.co.uk, you'd find it is the 1st hit, and does not appear in any way to be affiliated with anyone bar google.

Must go and check my bank balance and see if Google have sent me my millions...

Tell me about it! I get a mere 2mb on my 8mb line - and my ISP is unable to specify if there is a problem or not, so I've migrated.:D
  • TOG, no problem.. my post was viewed as being critical as well, and it wasn't intended to be.

Firstly I am not your pal but thanks anyway.

I don't like your tone either I mealy asked why you posted a affilate link. Okay you may have not gain but why do you keep the affilate links when they clearly against the rules, affilate links belong in the refferal forum and ruels apply there. You broke the rules I didnt. But when I point it out to you, you were become defensive, why not remove the links as they are breaking the rules. Thank you :) I wont add further I have reported your post to abuse for breaking the rules.

    My, my, aren't you touchy.

You say you merely asked why I posted an affiliate link, whereas you actually said this:

"Why has moob posted a affilate link there?

If I find the same product HERE is also gives me a differnet link which aint a affilate link, very sneeky"

In my opinion, you were being accusatory, and I therefore replied accordingly. It appears that you are the one with the questionable tone, being unnecessarily dunciative.

Now can you see why I was being 'defensive'?

As I've already explained, I had nothing to gain by posting a link I obtained as the 1st hit on google, neither did I realise this when I posted it. What would I have to gain in doing so? No doubt you've got your reasons however.

I look forward to being suitable chastised for my affiliate linking activities, and your reporting of said heinous crime.

Perhaps it's best you are true to your promise not to add anything further to this thread, as you've only made yourself look rather foolish.
