Negative left without explanation.

Hi

I am quite cross this morning. i sold some bathroom wall ornaments on ebay for like £1.24, i underestimated the postage and instead of £2 it went by parcelfroce for £7, my mistake! Told the buyer it could take 4 days and was fine with it. Then this morning i wake up to a negative because the items had smashed on the way. Obviously this is not my fault they were al bubbled wrapped and i could have sorted something out with parcelforce.

Instead she left me a stroppy neg with no explanation. Do you think this was fair?

  • No I (personally) don't think that is fair as the problem clearly lies with the courier during transit. Did you by any chance pay for any kind of compensation?

You can always try emailing the buyer and say that you are willing to help compensate them (if you have taken out compensation) and maybe go for a mutually withdrawn feedback if your buyer agrees.

That's one thing that really gets up my nose, is when a buyer doesn't email the seller about the problem, and instead gives a nice fat red, harsh considering it could be easily sorted.

Good Luck tho and I hope you get a "good ending" on this one :)
  • Definately out of order. there should'nt be a way of leaving a neg without, at least, going through the motions of resolving the problems.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Thats what i thought but i am angry so thought i would get a second opinion, have emailed her,(she is new to ebay only 9 positive transactions), also can i change my feedback to her, i don't think she should have a glowing report when she was so horrible to me.

This is why so many sellers don't leave feedback until the buyer has done so.
She's obviously thrown all her toys out of her pram because she knows you can't neg her.
I woule email her and explain the goods were damaged in transit and she should have contacted you first before negging you.
Offer to refund her and then maybe she will go for a feedback retraction.
Alos contact your couriers and make a claim for compensation.
Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

  • Good on you for emailing her :T treat others as you would like to be treated and all that ;)

You cant really change the feedback for her but you could go for a mutual withdrawal have a read here about it, which means they can be withdrawn but the comment stays very odd how they do it lol

Totally unreasonable. How can a reasonable person see that it could possibly be the senders fault (unless something is sent very poorly packed) if its get damaged in transit.

I doubt she will entertain the feedback withdrawal. If she's unreasonable enough to neg without contacting you then she's possibly not going to be the easiest person to deal with.

If she doesnt play ball, at least leave a follow up to the feedback you left her and that which she left you with an appropriate comment...make it non personal and factual then anyone looking at your neg will see it was her that was unreasonable. Good luck with this.

As for items damaged by Parcelforce.....they are awful. They really do not care. I have a friend that does agency driving for them and they show no respect for packages whatsoever.
  • Hi,

How do i leave follow up to her feedback, sorry don't think i have done this before?

In 'My eBay' there is a list on the left hand side of the page, one of which is 'feedback forum' (or something like that) click on it and it says 'follow up to feedback left'

She sounds totally unreasonable - in her situation I would have contacted the seller and told them what happened and see what they suggested doing about it.

Yeah leave followup feedback to the feedback that you have already left her and also to the feedback that she has left you.

I would probably also contact parcelforce and see if there is anything you can claim from them for damage in transit.

Is the buyer doing a claim through paypal? If she does I woudl of thought that she does claim through paypal and wins then she would have to return the item at her expense (although woudl they make her do that when its broken?)

    Mortgage-free Glee!
is it parcelforce or standard parcels? I personally have not used the former but been sent glass using the latter (reached me fine!). Claim compo for damaged items and say you will refund her if/when you get it!
