Yes all the above have been done. Opened account on 11.6.10 with £270, first reward given 1.7.10, first salary 23.7.10. All d d's have been actioned twice.
No response from Halifax, although they did say they would get back to us today! Did post on Moneysupermarket.com in response to another person with same problem, then got an e-mail from MS asking for more details, they are now taking it up with Halifax as I suppose it makes them look bad. Just annoyed really as when I took the ids into a branch to be verified they wanted to sign us up there and then, but I thought it wasn't fair after starting the process on line. Silly me.
  • I have to say I am annoyed a little with this issue myself. I am one of those people who reads the fine print to ensure I don't lose out on an offer like this, so I ensured I used the referral link, I entered everything as per the T&C's, I used their transfer service as required by the conditions.

There was no mention of two direct debits being transferred across as a minimum requirement, and luckily I had two that transferred, but to speed things up I asked a Halifax member of staff if there are any easy ones I could change myself instantly online, would it cause a problem? No.

The T&C's state the £50 will be transferred within one calendar month, that's it. So when I opened my account mid June I expected it to be deposited by mid July. I was told no actually, my switching process wasn't yet complete but as soon as it was I would get the £50. My switching process completed about two weeks ago so I phoned to ask where my £50 was, I was told I get this within one month of my switch being complete.

I'm not entirely happy with this as I have been told three different things, yet the T&C's of this offer simply state within one calendar month so technically I should have had the offer by now.

I'll give it another couple of weeks to allow a full month from my switching completion then I think it's time to start written complaints to Moneysupermarket.com and Halifax. It does not look good on them though, and if any member of staff from those groups come across this thread I would welcome one of them posting a message on here, or at least sending me a PM to discuss.

Can't believe my eyes! the £50 is in! No call or anything from Halifax but it's there, don't know if they were going to do it in response to the telephone calls or Moneysupermarket's intervention. If you need to contact MS the chap who e-mailed me is Graeme Delap. E-mail address is graeme.delap@moneysupermarket.com

Thats great news for you but nothing showing here, I havent chased them or done anything yet as my salary transfer does not take place until end of September.
Your the first one I have seen who has been paid the £50.

I see now you can get £50 from top cashback and £50 from Halifax.
    Should have waited!!!

Does this mean they give the reward on the 1st of the month for everyone, regardless of the date you opened it?

Sure I saw a response about this, can't find it now but all our rewards have gone in on 1st unless it was a weekend.

Yes because the £5 reward is for crediting the account with £1000 per calendar month, and then you get the £5 at the start of the next calendar month. It's got nothing to do with the date you opened it :)
Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard

    • You need to transfer your salary payments into the account.
    .

Switching salary payments to Halifax was not crucial to the deal. It very rarely is for accounts of this nature offering incentives and that applies to most banks. Banks tend to use terminology in their wording of these types of offers to suggest you have to switch salary . As an employee I would have thought you were aware of that.

The Halifax offer specifically stated on the Moneysupermarket and still does on their current offer -

"Move your salary and/or any other regular credits"
  • Hi
I have just gone through the online process to apply for the account and enter my existing account details so that the switching team can do this for me. When I clicked on the submit button at the end of the process I was directed back to the Halifax login box - does this mean I was timed out from the process? I would have thought there would have been a message confirming my application was now being considered. Can anyone please advise me on this. I hope I do not have to go through the online application again!
    Thanks
