    So worth investing in another GB of RAM then (or 2x1GB if necessary) . Even from new it can't ever have run smoothly with only 1GB-totally inadequate for Vista.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Its an eMachines D620. Not the best make I know but its been ok so far.

    Here's your model: 3&4 are a single panel access, opening that should expose your cooling system. Unscrew the copper piping system (probably 4/5 screws) lift it out, clear out all the dust, and fit back again

    Your lappy is capable of taking 4Gb in memory (2x2Gb) but that's overkill at the moment (the memory also resides under that panel)
