Why do people ask where to get something and then accuse you of affiliation?

But you are an AE - you openly admit that you used to have a different username!
*waves to Angelic*This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0 -

Thanks for that All the hyperbole regarding 'cover the costs' 'trial at present' are merely there to mask that fact that this is aimed purely at garnering income on a per click basis.
MSE state that they do not need to state that they are affiliate links as they did not post the links themselves. I believe Fagin used the same concept, I wasn't robbing anyone judge, it was the children :rotfl:
Lets be honest, it's not an enormous issue, we all end up clicking on pay per click links on the internet a couple of times a day, the most irritating part of this whole scheme is the way they are marketing it.
Just come out with it and say 'we want more money' and this is a great way to do it.0 -
I rarely take up the deals posted on Grabbit these days as they tend to be things I'm not interested in. I do have a bit of a concern how the site is developing though. I hadn't heard about the Skimware thing, but it doesn't sound as if MSE are being very open about it. I am a bit uncomfortable about the Groupon/My City deals which seem to have caused a lot of hassle for people.0

I had no knowledge of skimlinks until I posted this thread and can see how the unknown affiliated link must have looked to the op in the thread I originally replied to - quite clearly they had no idea about the skimlinks either. I am not impressed by the skimlinks as it has created animosity and problems where none was needed had the skimlinks not added the affiliated webpage. It will certainly make me think twice about posting a link again.0

I dunno why people ask for ideas and then accuse you of working for a company when you recommend them, and claim you have a vendetta if you say to avoid someone.
But what I do know is, that for quality products at low prices, come to Currys.
(in b4 someone takes that seriously)Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
All makes sense to me now, so sorry slummymummyof3 it seems that is wasn't you trying to disguise an affiliate link it was MSE trying to disguise it.
I must say I'm very disappointed to learn of this at all but by this means is very unprofessional of MSE IMHO.
MSE used to be very open. Offering alternatives and marking with an * when MSE got paid.
Had MSE automatically adjusted the post to reflect this I would happily have clicked the *'d version of the link. MSE would have got paid. Slummymummyof3 would have got thanked - I may even have got a set of cheap blinds.
Which brings me to a question - if MSE are disguising affliate links on their own website - how are we supposed to report those who are breaching the rules and disguising affiliate links on MSE? To me there is no way of knowing who hid the affiliate link! There is no intelligent life out there ... ask any goldfish!0
